Reformation 21 provides a helpful teaching on the authority and doctrine of Scripture and its role in apologetics:
We should first point out that there is a difference, what we might call a “wisdom difference,” between what we know and what we communicate in our apologetics (Col. 4:5). We are not called to communicate all that we know. But what we know should make a difference in how and what we communicate. In this case, what we know is that Scripture (and the truths that follow from it) carries its own authority with it; it carries the authority of God Himself.
