The latest edition of Credo Magazine includes an interesting article discussing the reaction in the 19th century of Princeton theologians to the revivalism that was sweeping the country at the time. Writer Christopher Cooper applies this to pastors today, exhorting them to desire the “ordinary means of pastoral ministry” rather than the emotionally-driven, often temporary, results of “revival.”
