18 And it happened that while He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him, and He questioned them, saying, “Who do the people say that I am?” 19 They answered and said, “John the Baptist, and others say Elijah; but others, that one of the prophets of old has risen again.” 20 And He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered and said, “ The Christ of God.” (Luke 9:18-20 NASB)
Who is the Christ of God? Did you notice how confused those outside of Jesus’ circle were about who Jesus really was? However, reading the passable in context (Matthew 16) we find that Peter knew who Jesus really was because it had been revealed to him by the Father. I contend that there is still confusion about who Jesus really is. There has to be because so many so-called Christian leaders are preaching “another Jesus.” Let us look at evidence within God’s Word about who Jesus really is.
