1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:1-5 (NASB)
I am sure I am not the only one who has tried and failed to walk through their own home without the benefit of light. For whatever reason the lights may be off, it is amazing to find ourselves in a landscape that is starkly different than we remember it being when we last viewed it with light reflecting off of every surface back to our eyes….
We take the ability to see for granted. The way we maneuver through our homes with light is often done on automatic pilot. We don’t even think about avoiding ramming our feet into objects such as furniture and doorjambs. However, it is a very different story when we suddenly find ourselves in darkness and we must move through a room barefoot and there are objects in our way that seem to be way out of place. We ram our toes into the leg of a coffee table or run our knee into chair. We can actually get hurt doing this.
