(Jesse Johnson – The Cripplegate) This week Los Angeles County and the State of California both agreed to settle their lawsuit with Grace Community Church—the church pastored by John MacArthur and the home to The Master’s Seminary– and pay their legal team $800,000. This was the settlement reached as a result of the County of Los Angeles taking the church to court over COVID restrictions.
If you recall, March 2020 the State of California (along with just about every other state) declared a state of emergency as a result of COVID….
That declaration allowed Governor Newsom to impose restrictions on all kinds of commerce and activities, limiting attendance and banning gatherings. However, he said that his orders were not designed to infringe upon “essential activities,” but then specifically applied them to churches.
