“While they legislate sin and litigate righteousness, God has already made His move. He has already crowned His Son. Christ is King. Not will be. Is. And this world and its wickedness is already on borrowed time.”
(The Dissenter) I don’t know exactly when it happens or what it looks like in practical, tangible detail. But what I do know is this: Psalm 2 is not poetry for the sake of art. It is a declaration of divine mockery—a promise that when the world raises its collective fist against God, He doesn’t flinch. He laughs.
“Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, ‘Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.’ He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.” —Psalm 2:1–4
We all read that and nod along in church. But this passage isn’t just about ancient Rome, or first-century Pharisees, or the book of Revelation. This passage is highly applicable today. Right now. This moment. Every pride parade, every executive order redefining gender, every rainbow-colored blasphemy flying over the White House lawn or glowing from the top of corporate bank towers is a shaking fist in God’s face. And His response is…laughter.
