According to Dan Silliman, “In January 2022, then-president Matt Chandler told Christianity Today that Acts 29 was making “a major shift” in its assessment process….[Chandler] had an online relationship with a woman. [Although] the relationship was not sexual…his elders deemed it unguarded, unwise and unhealthy….Other Acts 29 leaders have left and not come back. Co-founder Mark Driscoll was expelled in 2014 for “ungodly and disqualifying behavior.” CEO Steve Timmis was removed in 2020 amid allegations of abusive leadership.
(Protestia) The U.S. Vice President of the Acts 29 network, Tyler Jones, has been removed from his position after he confessed to being involved in a long-term adulterous affair.
Jones, who is married and has three children, planted Vintage Church in 2002. The church is prominent in the Raleigh, NC region, and has since grown into a 1,500-member multisite congregation.
In addition to serving as founding and lead pastor, Jones had been involved in Acts 29 leadership since 2003. Acts 29 is a theologically driven, gospel-centered, Reformed church-planting organization that oversees more than 600 churches globally. He attained the role of Vice President and was frequently criticized by some for acting as an “enforcer” and driving more conservative churches out of the network.
The conservative voice and Christian content are being silenced more and more.
