(OneNewsNow) Southern Baptist Convention president J.D. Greear is calling on all members of the denomination to declare that “Black Lives Matter.” Some of his fellow Baptists, however, are questioning his motivation for making such a request.
Greear made the following appeal in a video to his denomination during his annual address that normally would have been delivered at the now-cancelled SBC annual meetings originally scheduled for this week:
Greear: “Southern Baptists, we need to say it clearly as a gospel issue: Black lives matter. And by the way, let’s not respond by saying, Oh, well all lives matter. Let’s spare each other the quotation of stats right now.”
