I think the most glaring if not astonishing oxymoron, is that Rick Warren is a Southern Baptist, which historically has banned tongues (glossolalia) because they are Cessationists. But Jack Hayford is a Pentecostal. So the major question that should be asked is: “why didn’t the SBC ban Jack Hayford, and rebuke Warren for forming an unholy alliance with him?” And why would Hayford extol Warren verses rebuking him and his SBC denomination for condemning tongues? Hayford claims to get words of knowledge from God. And why the deafening silence in the SBC against the host of Scriptural and factual errors in Warren’s Purpose Driven Life book? But even if these Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today, God would never give a word of knowledge or inspired someone to tell the world and the church how great Rick Warren’s book(s) is when his Purpose Driven Life is riddled with false teachings that collide with Scripture. In 2006 I was questioned by someone who received my documentary exposing Assembly of God Pastor Lee McFarland and Anthony Niger, as to why I included Jack Hayford, T.D. Jakes, and Kenneth Copeland, who spoke at the recent Azusa Street Revival Centennial. So it is appropriate that I do respond! My reason for opposing T.D. Jakes, Kenneth Copeland, and Jack Hayford are not because I disagreed with their methods, though I also disagree with those, rather it is because of the content of their teaching as well as the false teachers they promote and endorse and even co-labor with.
I am not unique in my assessment of these three teachers. Their published statements speak for themselves. But there are also a great number of biblical discernment ministries besides mine that have done extensive research on their teachings who are highly credible. But credible or not, the bottom line, is we must all be good Bereans and simply line up their teachings with Scripture. I can only hope and pray that many of you are simply not aware of all their teachings. Twelve years later, see what happened to Lee McFarland:

But of the three teachers about whom I was questioned, Jack Hayford is probably the most painful on at least a personal level, because I was once a member of his Church on the Way, and a very close relative of mine was a member of a Foursquare Church. So as the star in Clear and Present Danger said when having to confront the President of the United States who had betrayed his troops said: “Sir, it gives me no pleasure to do so!” Jack Hayford is a major collaborator with Rick Warren’s programs and teachings, both in national conferences as well as via the Foursquare Gospel church denomination. He was President of the Foursquare Gospel church denomination, and was the de facto leader and pastor of this denomination, which has imported Rick Warren’s programs and books. He is the rough equivalent to the Foursquare Church denomination of Tom Trask, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in the U.S. Next to the AG, the Foursquare Church is one of the largest Pentecostal denominations in the U.S. A large number of Foursquare Churches have run Rick Warren’s programs and sell his Purpose Driven Life book. And not unlike Tom Trask, Jack Hayford is promoting Carl Jung via Warren’s SHAPE Program Personality Temperament Divination. But this should not be surprising because Hayford promotes Jung via his massive promotion of Richard Foster and the Jung-embedded Cleansing Stream program. I know this first hand too, because my close relative has been a leader of this program at his church. So, I would not even need outline any more of Hayford’s teachings in the public domain because his collaboration with Rick Warren should disqualify him and mark him as a false teacher. I am hoping that by proving how much Hayford promotes Jung, you will be convinced. Jack Hayford is a major coconspirator with Rick Warren of the first order.
