When asked about her view of death, she replied: “You don’t really know, you just hope,” … “I think we’re recycled and if nothing else we just go back into that great flow of divine energy and hopefully we spread ourselves around in other wonderful ways.”
(The Dissenter) I’ll be the first to admit that Dolly Parton had a very likeable persona about her. She seemed very genuine, real, down-to-earth, and lovable. She seemed to genuinely care about people and want the best for them. And her music often reflected that.
Dolly Parton passed away on August 25, 2026, at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer.
Her passing prompted a massive outpouring of affection from her fans, colleagues, co-stars, media personalities, and even church leaders. The affection is understandable as her likeable persona has earned her the reputation that the world has lost a genuinely decent person. I will not argue that point from a human perspective.
