The number one disturbing attribute of the leaders of Compromised Church is their rock-hard “conviction” that they are doing what God wants them to do in spite of overwhelming Biblical evidence that they are not. One of the most subtle aspects of the Compromised Church is its friendship with the world. All through the Bible we are told that we are not to love the things of this world, nor are we to be conformed to this world, nor are we to see this world as our home, but we are to have our treasure in Heaven rather in the world. One of the most tragic aspects of the Compromised Church, which is a product of its emphasis on numbers, baptisms. relevance, and worldliness is its complete lack of correct theology pertaining to salvation and assurance. Those who are believing they became part of the Kingdom of God in these churches are, for the most part, responding to a doctrine of salvation based upon some form of works righteousness which is the belief that one’s standing before God is founded and maintained by works of merit…. We continue with the time our Lord spent with His disciples in preparation for His separation for them as He was arrested, tried, crucified, died, and laid in a tomb. I began reading John Owen’s book Communion With The Triune God edited by Dr. Kelly Kapic and Justin Taylor back in 2008 as we awaited the birth of our 1st grandson. I read it in the waiting rooms prior to the various ultra-sound tests and other doctor visits that go with that. On the day of his birth, I read a few pages and stopped as that blessed event finally arrived. For some reason, I put the book back on the shelf with the bookmark in place and left it there when I got back home.
