“I’m Shutting Down” — Celebrities React to Election Result

CNSNews has a few of the celebrity tweets, which includes this tweet by Rolling Stone Mick Jagger: “Just was watching the news… maybe they’ll ask me to sing ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ at the inauguration, ha!” And this from Material Girl Madonna: “A New Fire Is Lit. We never give up.  We never give in.”

Several entertainers threatened to move to Canada and other countries if Donald Trump won the election. One wonders if they’re in the process of preparing for the move. Waaah!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting on the reactions many celebrities had to the November 8 presidential election, which resulted in Donald Trump becoming the next President of the United States.

While most entertainers in the EW story expressed sadness and disbelief over the result, others were supportive of President-elect Trump.

Some examples:

Actress Lindsay Lohan: “Retweet if you want a recount.”

Actress Dana Delany: “How do you explain to young girls in tears at Hillary HQ that women voted for Trump and misogyny is the way of the world? I won’t. It’s not.”

Author Stephen King: “No more book recommendations, politics, or amusing dog pictures for the immediate future. I’m shutting down.”

Actress Christina Applegate: “I went to sleep early. Woke up to this. To my fellow humans outside of the US. We don’t want this. And we are heartbroken.”

Actress Rashida Jones: “I want to quit life.”

Actress Kirstie Alley: “CONGRATULATIONS PRESIDENT TRUMP! @realDonaldTrump against all odds…against the establishment and even against most of the GOP…U did it!”

Actor Dean Cain: “Lots of hyperbole by my friends in Hollywood during this election. Are you gonna back up your words now? Just asking…?”

May God Bless President Trump

David French of National Review weighs in on Donald Trump’s historic upset.

donald-trump-4

I have never been more wrong about anything in my life than I’ve been in my assessment of Donald Trump’s political prospects. I discounted him in the primary, and I was discounting him in the general election all the way until about 9:30 p.m. on election night. He is now my president-elect and the future commander-in-chief of the most powerful military the world has ever seen. I pray earnestly and unambiguously that God may bless him, grant him wisdom, and open his ears to wise counsel. I pray earnestly and unambiguously that I end up being just as wrong about his character and capabilities as I was about his political prospects. I want him to be good, to be wise, and to be worthy of the Oval Office.

To know him and the power of his resurrection

Philippians 3:8-11 (NA28)

8 But even more so I consider all things to be loss on account of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, on account of whom all things I suffered loss and I consider them dung, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having my own righteousness that is of the law, but the righteousness through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based upon faith, 10 to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings being conformed to his death, 11 that if somehow I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:8-11 (translated from the NA28 Greek text)

Legalism is the default religion of most people. However, when God gave the Law to Moses to give to Israel, he did not do so as a means for sinners to earn the Kingdom of Heaven. The Law was given to Moses on the mountain after the people were redeemed from Egypt (Exodus 20:1-17). The sacrificial system within the Law proves that the Lord knew the people would fail to obey the Law perfectly. If the Law is not a means for sinners to save themselves, why did God reveal it at all? View article →

Christian Couple Denied Adoption of Foster Children Over Opposition to Homosexual Parenting

According to Christian News Network:

family-4A Christian couple in the U.K. has reportedly been denied their request to adopt two foster children in their care after they told social workers that the juveniles needed a mother and a father, and not two daddies.

According to reports, the couple, which has not been identified, has been looking after the children since early 2016 and has sought to adopt the youth themselves. They had initially been turned down because their house was too small.

When they were later told by a social worker that two men had expressed interest, the couple “expressed a degree of shock and asked if this was a ‘joke.’” They also said that it would be hard to explain the concept to one of the children who had said he was “waiting for a new mummy.”

Without Apology: 7 Reasons Not to Be Ashamed of the Hard Parts of the Gospel

Sadly, many who profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ fail to stand up for Him.  When it comes to standing up for what they believe in, they cannot find the words to defend their faith.  For example, when the subject of homosexuality comes up in conversation, many professing Christians are reluctant to share what the Bible teaches on the sin of homosexuality.  Why?  Because they’re ashamed to pass on what God says about sinful behavior in His Word.  For those who find themselves in this quandary, author, speaker and blogger Michelle Lesley offers 7 reasons Christians must not be ashamed of the hard teachings of the Gospel.  She writes:

silentRomans 1:16 is such a great verse, isn’t it? And one of the things that’s great about it is that we can all agree on it. I mean, no self-respecting Christian would dream of saying she’s ashamed of the gospel, would she? It’s a rallying cry for evangelism and for standing against persecution. Of course we’re not ashamed.

In theory. But in practice?

Chilean Feminists Amplify Heartbeat of Their Unborn Children in Pro-Life March of Pregnant Women

Christian News Network has the report and the must watch video:

baby-in-womb-heartbeat

Members of a Chilean feminist group recently amplified the heartbeat of their unborn children in a pro-life march in the nation’s capital.

The women were a part of the group Reivindica, which decided to utilize the International Day of Non-Violence as an opportunity to be a voice for the unborn. It organized the march as part of its La Voz Del Corazon project, or Voice of the Heart.

“We cannot consider the idea of naturalizing abortion as ‘progress,’” said President Rosario Vidal in a statement. “Women are moved by love, because we love a child—and not just a thing—from the womb, and we love women who have gone through pregnancies in highly adverse situations.”

True Christians are both born again and born from above

John 3:3 (NA28)

3 Jesus answered and said to him, amen amen I say to you, except one is born again, he is not able to see the Kingdom of God. John 3:3 (translated from the NA28 Greek Text)

In John 3:3 (above) is a term that is unique to Christianity and is not well understood even by those have been γεννηθῇ ἄνωθεν. The word translated above as “again” is  ἄνωθεν or anōthen, which is comprised of ἄνω or anō, “above, upwards,” and the suffix θεν or then, which denotes “from.” View article →

Brodersen splits from CCA; calls for new “Global Network”

CRN has published several articles on the bizarre direction Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa has taken since Brian Broadersen stepped into Calvary Chapel founder Chuck Smith’s shoes after his death. According to Berean Research, Brodersen has resigned from Calvary Chapel Association:

Calvary ChapelThe Calvary Chapel fracture was bound to happen, and now it appears Costa Mesa senior pastor Brian Brodersen is leading that split, calling for “like-minded” pastors to stand with him.

Over the weekend Brodersen quit his leadership position at the Calvary Chapel Association, and  announced he is establishing a new Calvary Chapel Global Network. This network, he says, will be a place for pastors on his side of the split “be a part of something greater than our own local congregations.”

On Eve of Election, Americans Should Take Voter Fraud Seriously

According to Jason Snead of The Daily Signal, many liberals “insist–loudly and often–that voter fraud is a  myth. They are flat wrong, as The Heritage Foundation’s voter fraud database proves.” The fact is, “few states have the tools in place to detect fraud, before or after it occurs.”  Snead writes:

It’s only a day before the election. Millions of Americans are putting the stamps on their absentee ballots; millions more are preparing to take their (highly discouraged and possibly illegal) ballot box selfies. The rest of us will don “I voted” stickers and settle in for what promises to be a long night of breaking news in elections across the country.

But some can’t take the suspense and would prefer to have a “sure thing.” Elections are the path to power in our political system, and for these fraudsters, the will of the people is far too fickle a thing to rely upon when it comes to furthering their careers and their causes.

The march, organised by the anti-European Union campaign Leave.EU, will end with a rally in Parliament Square within sight of the court building where judges will be hearing the appeal.

The campaign group is planning to “crowd fund” £100,000 from its supporters to pay for barristers to represent Leave supporters in the court action.

Three letters to three churches

1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God. Revelation 3:1-2 (NASB)

In our time it is very unusual for Christians to discuss apostasy. In fact, it makes some very uncomfortable to point out certain so-called “christian” leaders as being “heretics” or “apostates.” Why? The insidious poision called “Political Correctness” which has been implanted into our society by our enemy has taken a horrendous toll on our ability to be discerning as we are called to be in by our Lord in His Word. In this man-centered society, which has invaded deeply into our churches, the worst crime we can commit is to cause offense yet that very thing is a major mechanism within the preaching of the Law and Gospel that God uses to bring people to Christ. What has been the result? Apostasy springing up from all forms of “liberal christianity” has infected vast numbers of preachers and church leaders so that we are left with a wasteland of “Christian Evangelicalism” that is as spiritually dead as the “Christian Liberalism” that J. Gresham Machen contended with in his day calling it “another religion” from genuine Christianity. View article →

To know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19 (NASB)

I grew up in a Christian family. Not only was my immediate family all Christians, all of my extended family were as well. My Grandfather Ratliff was an evangelist who traveled all over Oklahoma, even before it became a state in 1907, preaching brush arbor “revivals” when there was no church building in town large enough for the crowds who came from all around to hear him. In any case, the environment in which I grew up was one in which I could not conceive of people hating the Gospel or being offended because of the Cross. Even after the Supreme Court ruled that Public Schools could no longer host “religious” things or focus on Christianity in any way, the Elementary school I attended still allowed a Gideon representative to come in every month or so to show a slide show to us that presented the Gospel. No one complained. Perhaps I grew up somewhat sheltered from the world’s hatred of God’s truth and that my concepts of these things were naïve, however, that is no longer the case. View article →

The Risks of Recreational Weed

According to Healthzette:

MarijuanaThe stakes on Nov. 8 couldn’t be higher.

Not only are voters being asked to choose between leaders who would take our country in very different directions — voters nationwide are also being asked to decide some critical and divisive issues. Among them: the legalization of medicinal and recreational marijuana.

Proponents of legalization measures on the ballot in nine states have spent millions on ads and awareness campaigns. These ads and campaigns tout the benefits of recreational use — and the seemingly few risks to individuals and communities as a whole.

Elon Musk: Robots will take your jobs, government will have to pay your wage

CNBC reports:

RobotComputers, intelligent machines, and robots seem like the workforce of the future. And as more and more jobs are replaced by technology, people will have less work to do and ultimately will be sustained by payments from the government, predicts Elon Musk, the iconic Silicon Valley futurist who is the founder and CEO of SolarCity, Tesla, and SpaceX.

According to Musk, there really won’t be any other options.

“There is a pretty good chance we end up with a universal basic income, or something like that, due to automation,” says Musk to CNBC. “Yeah, I am not sure what else one would do. I think that is what would happen.”

Is evangelical Christianity becoming more open to gay marriage?

Denny Burk, Professor of Biblical Studies at Boyce College, addresses the “progressive Christian” push to normalize homosexuality and same-sex marriage in the Church.  Are these people the sheep spoken of in John 10 or are they goats?  “At the end of the day,” says Burk, “the church follows the voice of the Lord Jesus and will not go after the voice of ‘strangers’—those offering a teaching that is contrary to Christ and his word. Those who do go after the “strangers” are revealing themselves not to have been a part of the fold to begin with. They leave the church because they were Christians in name only.”  So, what is going on in the evangelical movement right now?  Burk offers his opinion:

"The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out."

“…the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.” John 10:3

I was just rereading an essay I wrote about six years ago on what the bible teaches about homosexuality. That essay begins with a discussion of Brian McLaren’s then recent affirmation of committed homosexual relationships.

It is strange to read that essay now and to consider in retrospect how quickly McLaren faded from evangelical view. At the time, the emerging church still had some purchase within the evangelical movement. Now that entire project is defunct and so are its major proponents. They pushed the very edges of the leftwing of the evangelical movement until they pushed themselves right out of the movement. Many of them did so by adopting unorthodox positions on sexuality.

WikiLeaks: Clinton Campaign Chair Participated in Occult Magic

According to Edmund Kozak of Polizette, WikiLeaks emails reveal “Podesta attended ‘Spirit Cooking’ event that has been described as Satanic.” What exactly is Spirit Cooking?  Brace yourself.  “The origins of Spirit Cooking can be found in Cake of Light, a sacrament in the religion of Thelema which was founded by Aleister Crowley. The ingredients of the Cake of Light include honey, oil, menstrual blood and sperm.” (Source)  To learn more about the world of the occult see Berean Research’s White Paper.

Following is Kozak’s report:

john-podestaJohn Podesta and others in Hillary Clinton’s inner circle may actively participate in bizarre occult rituals, according to an astonishing email released by WikiLeaks in October.

While powerful political insiders partaking in ceremonies that have been described as Satanic may seem like something that could exist only in a Dennis Wheatley novel, a June 2015 conversation between Podesta and famed performance artist and occultist Marina Abramović proves such scenarios are chillingly real.

November 8th: Spiritual Warfare

spiritual-warfare-1Dr. Peter Jones of truthXchange is talking about the upcoming election, of course.  Tuesday Americans will head to the polls to cast their vote for a presidential candidate that some voters feel is the “lesser of the two evils.” Dr. Jones reminds us that “This election is about more than politics. Perhaps, like never before, it is about spiritual warfare.” [More on Spiritual Warfare here.]  Many of us recall when it was all over the news that First lady Hillary Clinton “held imaginary conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi as a therapeutic release.”  Occultist Jean Houston, co-founder of the Foundation for Mind-Being Research, a group that studies the psychic experience and altered and expanded consciousness, worked with Mrs. Clinton at the White House as an adviser and was dubbed “Hillary’s Guru.” Dr. Jones worries that “Electing a president highly influenced by such [occult] thinking would have serious spiritual implications for the country and the Church.”

Dr. Jones is concerned enough about Hillary Clinton’s occult proclivity to warn the Church about it.   View article →

After this

12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples; and they stayed there a few days. 13 The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 And He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. 15 And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; 16 and to those who were selling the doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a place of business.” John 2:12-16 (NASB)

Some today have made a caricature of our Lord Jesus Christ. This man-made image is far from the truth we see in Sacred Scripture. There have been some who have even portrayed the Bible as revealing two separate “Gods,” the mean angry God of the Old Testament, and the kind, gentle Jesus of the New Testament. The former is an image contrived by those who resent God’s commands for holiness and righteousness while the latter is vastly incomplete and derived by those who are either ignorant of what the New Testament teaches about our Lord or they are deliberately ignoring what it says. The Hatmakers double down on “holy” homosexual “marriage”

Berean Research has the latest on the uproar over Jen Hatmaker’s affirmation of homosexuality and same-sex marriage.  (Those who are unaware of the situation can read about it here.) Evidently Jen and her husband, Brandon, both professing Christians, are not only unrepentant, they’re pushing back, big time. Here’s the story:

wolfToday Brandon Hatmaker came out swinging against those who’ve raised alarm at his famous wife Jen Hatmaker’s public stance last week on homosexual marriage, in which she stated that a committed marriage between two people of the same sex was “holy” before God.

Maybe she didn’t mean it?  Nope. Brandon put any vague doubts to rest with his firm statement this afternoon, titled, “Where I stand on LGBTQ” on his Facebook page:

To be clear…

Jen and I are 100% on the same page regarding her recent interview about our love and hope for the LGBTQ community. This is a journey we have been on together. We both believe a same-sex marriage, as a life-long monogamous commitment, can be holy before God.

He explained that his “shift” was the result of studying Scripture and prayer…

Grassley Asks Justice Department IG to Investigate the Investigators in Clinton Email Probe

According to CNSNews:

magnifying-glassSen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is asking the Justice Department’s inspector general to examine whether “high-ranking” DOJ and FBI officials “compromised the public trust in the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized use of a private email server as Secretary of State and potential mishandling of classified material.”

Several of those high-ranking officials had previous ties to the Clintons, he said.

Moreover:

Grassley named Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who met privately with former president Bill Clinton at a Phoenix airport in July, just days before the FBI announced it would not recommend the prosecution of Hillary Clinton. Grassley said Lynch’s meeting with Clinton “creates the appearance of a conflict,” given that she was appointed to the role of U.S. Attorney by then-President Bill Clinton and she was a partner at a law firm that represented both Bill and Hillary Clinton in their official government capacities.

British court brings Brexit to a screeching halt

Fox News has the Associated Press story:

GavelBritain’s High Court brought government plans for leaving the European Union screeching to a halt Thursday, ruling that the prime minister can’t trigger the U.K.’s exit from the bloc without parliamentary approval.

The government said it would go to the Supreme Court to challenge the ruling, which if upheld could prevent it starting exit talks by March 31 as planned.

The pound, which has lost about a fifth of its value since the June 23 decision to leave the EU, shot back up on the verdict, rising 1.1 percent to $1.2430.

So how did you learn Christ?

17 So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; 19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. 20 But you did not learn Christ in this way, Ephesians 4:17-20 (NASB)

In the passage I placed at the top of this post (Ephesians 4:17-20) there are two Greek words which we will focus on in this post. They are ματαιότητι, which is translated in the NASB as “futility” in v17 and ἄγνοιαν, which is translated as “ignorance” in v18. That mindset which looks at what we call “Orthodox Christianity” and our completely firm stance of non compromise on any of it with a jaw dropping arrogant, bullying attitude stance is what we are encountering more and more throughout the visible church because most of it has been given over to the darkness it loved more than the light of truth. Those with this mindset simply cannot comprehend God’s truth nor do they love Him or those who belong to Him and follow the Son. View article →

Leading Physician Confirms Unborn Children Feel Excruciating Pain During Late-Term Abortions

LifeNews reports:

Baby in the wombThe U.S. Senate heard from medical experts on Tuesday about the scientific evidence that unborn babies can feel pain at 20 weeks or earlier.

The Senate is considering a piece of legislation named the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would ban abortions after 20 weeks when scientific evidence shows unborn babies can feel pain.

While abortion activists say unborn babies can’t feel pain until later in pregnancy, a leading U.S. neonatologist testified that a majority of the medical evidence indicates that unborn babies can feel severe pain at 20 weeks or earlier, according to the Catholic News Agency.

Dr. Colleen A. Malloy, a professor of neonatology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, told the Senate committee that “anesthesiologists, and surgeons use pain medication” at the 20 week stage, “because it’s supported by the literature completely.”

Lifeway: Jesus Wouldn’t Be Calling If They Really Had Doctrinal Guidelines

Wolf in sheep's clothingBud Ahlheim of Pulpit & Pen tackles LifeWay Christian Resources’s announcement that they were pulling Jen Hatmaker’s books for publicly declaring that she affirms homosexuality and gay “marriage.” According to Ahlheim, Lifeway deems it “inappropriate to sell an author with Scripturally-illicit views on homosexuality because of ‘doctrinal guidelines.’”  So how is it, he wonders, that Lifeway finds it “doctrinally tolerable to continue promoting and selling works of known false teaching by known false teachers?”  In this piece, Ahlheim discloses who some of those false teachers are. He writes:

In a recent interview, [Hatmaker] voiced significant changes in her theology of human sexuality and the meaning and definition of marriage — changes which contradict LifeWay’s doctrinal guidelines,” LifeWay spokesman Marty King told Baptist Press today (Oct. 27). “As a result, LifeWay has discontinued selling her resources.” (Source, Baptist Press)

While many on social media and blog-sites were commending the bold stand Lifeway made in pulling Jen Hatmaker’s books after her views on the LGBT issue and her position on gay “marriage” hit the front pages of the Christian “news” media, I sat back somewhat slack-jawed.

“Kept me out of jail”: Top DOJ official involved in Clinton probe represented her campaign chairman

According to Fox News:

john-podestaThe Justice Department official in charge of informing Congress about the newly reactivated Hillary Clinton email probe is a political appointee and former private-practice lawyer who kept Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta “out of jail,” lobbied for a tax cheat later pardoned by President Bill Clinton and led the effort to confirm Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Peter Kadzik, who was confirmed as assistant attorney general for legislative affairs in June 2014, represented Podesta in 1998 when independent counsel Kenneth Starr was investigating Podesta for his possible role in helping ex-Bill Clinton intern and mistress Monica Lewinsky land a job at the United Nations.

“Fantastic lawyer. Kept me out of jail,” Podesta wrote on Sept. 8, 2008 to Obama aide Cassandra Butts, according to emails hacked from Podesta’s Gmail account and posted by WikiLeaks.
