(Protestia) Andy Stanley, 68, announced this morning that he is stepping down as senior pastor of North Point Ministries and as lead pastor of North Point Community Church.
The Board of Elders has nominated Joel Thomas to serve as Senior Pastor of North Point Ministries, pending a congregational vote, with the goal of him taking over as Senior Pastor of North Point Ministries by January 1, 2027, and then as Lead Pastor of North Point Community Church by June 1, 2027.
Thomas joined North Point Ministries as an intern in 1998 and worked his way up to lead one of their main multi-sites, Buckhead Church. Thomas recently served as Executive Director of North Point Ministries, leading the NPM Directional Team and overseeing the church network.
Stanley said he will remain on the board of elders and continue participating in the preaching rotation, but will also have more time to spend with his family.
CRN has compiled a list of false teachers and several other professing Christians we’ve warned you about over the years. The list also contains those we must keep an eye on plus movements, organizations and “frauds, phonies and money-grubbing religious quacks” to mark and avoid as per Romans 16:17-18 such as Andy Stanley.
