The Golden Calf and apostasy

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many dwelling places: if it were not so, I would have told you: I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there may ye be also. 4 And whither I go, ye know, and the way ye know. John 14:1-4 (1599 Geneva Bible) Read 2 Peter 3:1-4 on the site.

Those familiar with the Exodus of Israel from bondage in Egypt to the Promised Land of Canaan know that the journey was long and arduous. Only two men from those who left Egypt made it through the journey. The rest died on the way. Their children were those whom Joshua led to conquer and claim the land flowing with milk and honey…. Wolves Wear Smiles

“It got me thinking about when evil is hidden by outward beauty, or kindness in good deeds, or even just lots of smiles (i.e. Joel Osteen), how few people discern. I hear so often that so-and-so cannot possibly be a false teacher because she is so kind…nice…joyful.”

(Elizabeth Prata – The End Time) On old TV show The Twilight Zone one of the most famous episodes was The Masks (1964). In New Orleans during Mardi Gras, a dying millionaire father calls his brutish, oafish, vain, greedy family to his side one last time before he dies. They arrive by train from Boston, giddy at the notion of inheriting millions but not caring their dad was dying. Dressed to the nines and looking lovely, the family gathers to the father’s side. Here’s What Dems Don’t Want You to Know About the Woman Who Attacked ICE Agents

“Of course, anyone who has watched the videos of the incident could see that Good attempted to run over the ICE agent. As for whether Good was even a part of the effort to impede ICE, the witness did not hesitate.”

(Matt Margolis – PJ Media) On Wednesday, an anti-ICE protester thought it would be a good idea to attempt to run over ICE agents in Minneapolis. She learned the hard way that attacking a federal law enforcement officer is not a good idea, and officers wound up shooting and killing her. Continue reading

Jen Wilkin Sets Herself Up as a Preaching Coach for Men

(The Dissenter) Jen Wilkin, a female preacher at Matt Chandler’s church—a Southern Baptist church—who has also publicly described menstruation as a “parable of the cross” is now being presented as a preaching coach for pastors. Not for women’s Bible study leaders. Not for curriculum writers. For pastors. For men charged by God to stand before the church and preach Christ with authority.

There’s an event promo posted on the site, then…

That alone should stop people in their tracks. Continue reading

Wielding The Sword Of The Lord Correctly

12 For the Word of God is living and active and sharper than every doubled-edged-sword and penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to discern the thoughts and insights of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 translated from the NA28 Greek text to English)

In this day in which the truth is said to be unknowable, Christians must rely on the only source of pure truth we have. There is no truth that we can say is the complete truth unless we take it from God’s Word. The Bible is pure truth and it is the authority we rely on in order to have a firm foundation in this lost and dying world that is consuming itself in rebellion against God. Continue reading

Nick Shirley Drops Another Video, and It Will Blow Your Mind

(Matt Margolis – PJ Media) Independent journalist Nick Shirley’s back at it, and his second Minnesota fraud video packs the same explosive punch as the first.

That original 42-minute bombshell ripped the lid off Somali-run daycares that are raking in millions from taxpayers while sitting empty, while the Walz administration did nothing to stop it.

The legacy media have been aggressively trying to discredit Shirley and his reporting, but he’s not backing down…. Continue reading

Christian Author Phillip Yancey Confesses to Adultery, Will Retire from Writing

“His wife, Janet, to whom he’s been married for 55 years, also said in a statement…”

(Protestia) Christian author Philip Yancey has confessed to having an 8-year-long affair with a married woman and will retire from writing and ministry as a result, according to a story in Christianity Today.

Yancey is perhaps best known for his books The Jesus I Never Knew and What’s So Amazing About Grace? He has sold more than 15 million copies and his books have been translated into more than 40 languages. He told CT in a statement: Continue reading

Therefore Make your Calling and Election Sure

22 Having purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit, to love brotherly without feigning, love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born anew, not of mortal seed, but of immortal, by the word of God, who liveth and endureth forever. 24 For all ,flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man is as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth away. 25 But the word of the Lord endureth forever: and this is the word which is preached among you. 1 Peter 1:22-25 (1599 Geneva Bible)

The Puritans had a term they used in their theological writings and discussions describing professing believers who fell away or were in some way not consistent in their walk. They called them “temporary believers.” This may be a little offensive to many these days, but there are untold numbers of Pastors, Deacons, Elders, Evangelists, or whatever in our churches in our time who would not even qualify for membership in a 17th Century Puritan Church…. Warning: Tara Leigh Cobble, The Bible Recap, & D-Group

(Michelle Lesley) First, Michelle explains her criteria for doing research on authors, pastors, and Bible teachers that she receives a lot of questions about asking if she recommends them. Not long ago a number of readers asked about Tara-Leigh Cobble, host of The Bible Recap, a daily podcast, The God Shot, a daily radio show, as well as D Group. Here’s Michelle’s recommendation (scroll down until you see the article).

Tara-Leigh Cobble, or “TLC” as she likes to be called, “began her ministry as a singer-songwriter, performing her own songs and leading worship around the globe. After her first book was published, she added speaking to her repertoire. As a musician, writer and speaker, she spent more than a decade touring internationally before creating D-Groups and finding a home and community for herself in Dallas, Texas.” Continue reading

The PR Fallout of Tim Walz’s Political Demise: The Somalia Scandal Is About to EXPLODE

“The mainstream media won’t be able to cover for the Dems. More than anything else, that’ll be the ultimate PR fallout of Tim Walz’s political demise: The Somali fraud scandal is going to explode BIG TIME.”

(Scott Pinsker – PJ Media) The article starts off with a short, quick pirate joke that you can read on the site.

It’s the perfect segue to a PR analysis of Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), who went from a 2028 presidential frontrunner to political roadkill over the last 10 months. As recently as early March, mainstream media outlets like The New Yorker published such fawning fluff-pieces as “Tim Walz Might Run for President in 2028 If You Ask Him Nicely.” Continue reading

JD Hall, Joel Webbon Announce Book Together

“We are living in an era where loyalty and courage are prized virtues instead of winsomeness or niceness.”

(Ray Fava – Evangelical Dark Web) In a Friday news drop, Joel Webbon not only released the first installment of his interview with Nick Fuentes, he and JD Hall also announced their book as well. The Hyphenated Heresy: Judeo-Christianity challenges the myth of the hyphen in Judeo-Christian, tracing how it reshaped Christian identity, redefined the Church’s witness, and bound modern faith to political Zionism. Adoption

Romans 8:15 (NA28)15 For you  have not received a spirit of slavery leading to a spirit of slavery again, but you received the spirit of adoption as sons  by whom we cry out, “Abba! Father!” (Romans 8:15 translated from the NA28 Greek text to English)

The Eastern concept of adoption goes deeper than our Western concept. Only the Apostle Paul uses this word in the NT, υἱοθεσίας (huiothesia) translated in the passage above as “adoption.” Paul, being a Roman citizen, no doubt borrowed it from Roman culture since the Jews knew nothing of it. What is the Binding of Satan?

1 And I saw an Angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit, and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he took the dragon that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and he bound him a thousand years: 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and he shut him up, and sealed the door upon him, that he should deceive the people no more till the thousand years were fulfilled: for after that he must be loosed for a little season. Revelation 20:1-3 (1599 Geneva Bible)

Some translations render the first word in this verse as “And.” Even though chapter 20 follows chapter 19 it does not mean that the vision John is seeing here a continuation of the one from Chapter 19 and previous. This is simply John’s introduction into a new vision. The book of Revelation is not chronological. I have made that mistake myself insisting that events are sequential throughout the book. When we study the book of Daniel we find that there is no sequential order to the chapters there so why must we insist on that here? Continue reading

Adios, Maduro

“Ironically, at the same time the US Special Forces were physically removing Nicolas Maduro and his awful wife from their supposedly secure Caracas compound, the 34-year-old daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones collapsed in San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel.  Dead. Fentanyl-laced narcotics.”

(Bill O’Reilly) Over the years, I’ve discussed America’s drug problem with President Trump.  In his first term, I had dinner with him at Mar-a-Lago and asked whether he was considering military action against the Mexican drug cartels, which have damaged the USA big time.  Mr. Trump hesitated, saying the blowback would be considerable. Now We Know Why Democrats Are Defending Somali Fraud

“Make no mistake, Democrats’ resistance to federal investigations into the Somali fraud points to a corrupt, mutually beneficial arrangement. Somali-run childcare centers and meal programs siphon off taxpayer money, then recycle some of it back into Democratic campaigns. Appeasing a reliable voting bloc plays a role, but the real payoff is money and power for the Democratic Party. Democrats have spent years building an elaborate ecosystem that turns public programs into campaign-funding pipelines, all at taxpayer expense.”

(Matt Margolis – PJ Media) Have you ever wondered why Democrats are so aggressively defending rampant fraud in Minnesota? Why Gov. Tim Walz so desperately wants to handle the investigation on his own? There’s a simple explanation: it has nothing to do with protecting vulnerable communities or fighting discrimination. Democrats are shielding these schemes because they profit directly from them. Continue reading

President Trump: Nicolás Maduro ‘Captured and Flown Out Of’ Venezuela

“Maduro, who has maintained himself in power through a series of sham presidential elections, is actively wanted by U.S. authorities on multiple narco-terrorism charges. The U.S. has an active $50 million bounty on information leading to Nicolás Maduro’s arrest and/or conviction.”

(Breitbart) U.S. President Donald Trump announced Saturday morning that Venezuela’s socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores have been “captured and flown out of the country”, a message that came after a series of explosions hit Caracas. Continue reading

SBC’s Thom Rainer lists the 20 most influential evangelicals (Repost)

Eleven years ago, Ken Silva warned about the cult of celebrity in a piece he penned for Apprising Ministries. He revealed that the idol of evangelicalism erected by influential evangelical leaders is really not the Christianity of the New Testament. According to Ken, discerning Christians would recognize what was happening in the visible Church and as a result of his reporting were in the “proper vantage point upon the battlefield in order to better discern just how sad a list of the cult of celebrity evangelicals you’re about to witness.” The list Ken revealed includes Emergent/Emerging Church leaders and some important leaders in what he referred to as “the openly charismatic New Calvinism.”

Now to the article I came across while doing research on the once powerful New Calvinism, i.e. the Young Restless and Reformed movement that was influential in 2006. In less than two decades the YRR movement “has nearly wholly been torn apart”:

By Ken Silva

Now when the Pharisees gathered to [Jesus], with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem, they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands properly, holding to the tradition of the elders, and when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other traditions that they observe, such as the washing of cups and pots and copper vessels and dining couches).

And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?” And he said to them,” Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. ’You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!” (Mark 7:1-9)

Worshiping The Way They Want To By Making God Be Who They Want Him To Be

As I monitor the rapid apostatizing of mainstream evangelicalism, and document it here at Apprising Ministries, I’ve told you that a major root cause for all of this has been evangelicalism never fully repented of its inherent humanism. That’s an important reason why it so quickly embraced the Church Growth Movement (CGM). Continue reading

Warning Against Apostasy

11 Of whom we have many things to say, which are hard to be uttered, because ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when as concerning the time ye ought to be teachers, yet have ye need again that we teach you what are the first principles of the word of God: and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For everyone that useth milk, is inexpert in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of age, which through long custom have their wits exercised, to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:11-14 (1599 Geneva Bible)

Apostasy: [Middle English apostasie, from Old French, from Late Latin apostasia, defection, from Late Greek apostasi, from Greek apostasis, revolt, from aphistanai, aposta-, to revolt : apo-, apo- + histanai, to stand, place; see st- in Indo-European roots.]

Biblical unity and separation

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest continue to redress the things that remain, and shouldest ordain Elders in every city as I ap- pointed thee. 6 If any be unreproveable, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, which are not slandered of riot, neither are disobedient. 7 For a Bishop must be unreproveable, as God’s steward, not froward, not angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre, 8 But harberous, one that loveth goodness, wise, righteous, holy, temperate, 9 Holding fast that faithful word according to doctrine, that he also may be able to exhort with wholesome doctrine, and convince them that say against it. Titus 1:5-9 (1599 Geneva Bible)

It doesn’t take very long for me to discern whether the person I am dealing with is truly God’s man or woman or is a pretender. That personal interaction is necessary for me to see the true nature and focus of the person…. Continue reading

‘Ten-year stain:’ Bondi asks prosecutors to probe Obama-Biden lawfare as criminal conspiracy

(John Solomon – Just the News) Attorney General Pam Bondi told Just the News that she has asked prosecutors to investigate the Obama-Biden era of lawfare as an ongoing election-meddling conspiracy that protected Democrats from criminal investigation and infringed the civil rights of Republicans like President Donald Trump and his supporters.

Recovering from eye surgery, Bondi made the revelation in written answers Sunday to questions submitted by Just the News, signaling she agrees with FBI Director Kash Patel, who earlier this year penned a memo predicating an investigation looking at the weaponization of intelligence of law-enforcement powers dating to the Russia collusion case as an ongoing conspiracy. Bank It

“The press extinguished due process a long time ago, headlining anything lurid with little perspective or restraint. The evil lawyers understand that no fact-finding will take place as they hawk their blackmail techniques on television. You people know who you are.  Have fun spending the blood money.  But remember, the reaper will have something very special in store for you.”

(Bill O’Reilly) As I get older, my predictions get better. Why? Because, as Gloria Estefan sings, there is a rhythm of the night. A pattern of behavior.  A balance in the universe. So, let’s take a look at 2026.

Up top, no human being can accurately assess what President Trump will do…. Continue reading

Recovering Civilizational Protestantism

“Civilizational Protestantism rested on a confidence that Christian faith was no mere private consolation or a sectarian preference, but a moral inheritance capable of ordering the common life. Its builders believed that Christianity could produce better leaders, more humane institutions, and a more just society. This confidence did not require perfection or coercion. It required the conviction that Christianity, rightly lived, was a blessing to the nation—and therefore something that ought to be publicly expressed, publicly defended, and publicly institutionalized.”

(Josh Abbotoy – American Reformer) On a recent visit to the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, it struck me that it would be impossible for any branch of American Christianity to reproduce such a thing today. American Christianity—the soul of our nation—is fractured and insecure about its place in public life. Continue reading

The Ruins of New Calvinism: How a Theological Movement Lost Its Center

“Through a series of personal scandals and the broader collapse of credibility surrounding social justice and Covid narratives, the second generation lost much of its authority. I do not want to overstate this. The Gospel Coalition still hosts a well attended biannual conference. But the momentum has shifted. The third generation of the Young, Restless, and Reformed effectively marks the end of the movement as a movement.”

(Jon Harris) Bob the Baptist put out a video recently that is making the private message rounds in my circles. Essentially, his thesis is that baked into the young, restless, and reformed movement, otherwise known as the New Calvinism, was a particular weakness that made it susceptible to the manosphere and the Pagan Right. It is a thoughtful and well documented take, and worth your time if you are interested in understanding how many people who bought into The Gospel Coalition or Acts 29 started prioritizing things like race essentialism, overturning women’s suffrage, and questioning the validity of the Holocaust narrative. Are you willing to suffer in the flesh for Christ’s sake?

17 This I say therefore and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in vanity of their mind. 18 Having their understanding darkened, and being strangers from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart: 19 Which being past feeling, have given themselves unto wantonness, to work all uncleanness, even with greediness. Ephesians 4:17-24 (1599 Geneva Bible) Read verses 20-24 on the site.

From the moment the Gospel was first preached, it has been under attack. Impostors have come along pretending to be genuine Christians or preachers or teachers and they have led many to destruction. Part of my planning for this post was research into The Down-Grade Controversy that Charles Spurgeon was engaged in for many years until his death…. Continue reading
