5 Proven Ways Pornography Warps Your Mind

Can someone literally become addicted to porn? Yes, says Luke Gilkerson, because studies indicate that watching pornography makes a person want to watch more. A 2008 survey revealed that “over 90% of therapists believed a person could become addicted to cybersex.” View article →

Pornography ‘Setting Moral Standard’ for Young People

Christian Today reports:

William Struthers, Associate Professor of Psychology at Wheaton College, believes that pornography is reinforcing unrealistic and unhealthy views of sex among young people.

“Pornography is a violation of the childhood mind, creating expectations that anybody and everybody is willing to engage in sex on demand and that consent will always be freely given,” he said.

How Christians Should Engage Latter-day Saints

Russell D. Moore, the Dean of the School of Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, suggests that in order to reach Mormons we need apologetics directed toward them. “We must not back away from the sad reality that Mormonism is not even remotely Christian,” says Moore, “But we must remember that we will not convince Mormons with rational arguments alone.” View article →

Steven Furtick Thanks WF Heretic Joel Osteen For Inspiration

Rick Warren calls this rising evangelical star his boy. Craig Groeschel is his pastor. James MacDonald and Mark Driscoll consider his a friend.

Isn’t it about time they become concerned when Furtick actually thanks a Word Faith heretic for inspiring his vision, which you’ll see him do at Lakewood Church in this exclusive Apprising Ministries video. View article →

Liberals Created the Culture of Evil and Death, Part 3

Marsha West has written a series of articles about the destructive force of liberalism in society. In the first installment she discusses the entertainment industry’s contribution to America’s moral meltdown and offers ways to combat this. The second installment draws attention to the mainstreaming of aberrant Christian movements and demonstrates how false teachers are welcomed into pro-family organizations to help bring society back to its Judeo-Christian values. In her third and final installment, West discusses what liberals refer to as “Progressive Christianity” and “Social Justice Christianity” and spotlights the Rev. Jim Wallis, one of the leaders of the social justice movement. Wallis insists that he is an evangelical Christian, though the evidence seems to indicate that he is a Marxist sympathizer. Marsha also names many Christian leaders of whom to be wary and the unorthodox movements they represent. View article →

Three Deadliest Words in the World: It’s a Girl

Life News reports:

“It’s a girl” has become a three-word death sentence to hundreds of millions of unborn babies across the globe. The United Nations estimates as many as 200 million girls are missing in the world today because of female gendercide. Killed, aborted and abandoned—these are the brutal realities of the actual “war on women.”

Media Lions Roar at Christian Athletes

The Media Research Center reports that the media appears to be insisting that Christian athletes keep their faith to themselves. Those who refuse to do so are severly criticized by writers, sports networks and leagues. According to MRC:

Hostile writers have also gone after [Tim] Tebow’s supporters. Bernstein labeled Tebow’s fans “lunatic-fringe cultists” and “batspit crazy fanatics.” Columnist Rabbi Joshua Hammerman of “The Jewish Week” outrageously warned that a Tebow victory in the 2012 Broncos-Patriots football game could spark riots in the streets: “If Tebow wins the Super Bowl, against all odds, it will buoy his faithful, and emboldened faithful can do insane things, like burning mosques, bashing gays and indiscriminately banishing immigrants.

The Great American Worldview Test

Dr. Al Mohler writes:

American presidential elections are the world’s most public display of the democratic process. The global media follow the American elections with a fervor that is easily understood — what happens in an American presidential election matters all over the world. Our presidential campaigns are political pageants and electoral dynamos. But, as any honest thoughtful observer will understand, our elections are also great worldview exercises. We reveal our worldview by our vote.

Praise For Greater By Prophet-Leader Steven Furtick

Apprising Ministries brings up the key question regarding very popular evangelical preacher Steven Furtick, who is increasing in his influence within Christendom.

There are those who quickly dismiss my coverage of Furtick by saying we know that his teaching false. Ok, here’s the question: Then what does this say e.g. about former SBC president Dr. Jack Graham with his glowing endorsement of Furtick’s new book? View article →

Liberals Created the Culture of Evil and Death, Part 2

Marsha West discusses the dangers of pragmatism in the Christian world. In their zeal to defeat the far-left’s anti-God agenda for society, the New Religious Right has taken whatever pragmatic means they deem necessary to include partnering with false teachers and cultists, in an effort to “bring America back to God.” Likewise, many Christian leaders have tossed aside biblical orthodoxy and embraced pragmatism as an evangelistic technique to reach the unchurched. Pragmatism “is found wherever Christians run to join programs and hurry to change their worship services because of what they expect to see happen because of the changes they make. In short, it is found anywhere the emphasis is removed from what Scripture says and where the emphasis is placed on the expected results.” View article →

Words Matter, Truth Counts

Ken Connor, Chairman of the Center for a Just Society, examines the difficulties that have arisen from a culture that is dominated by a postmodern worldview. Public discourse is difficult in a society where the dominant ethical system is relativism, the view that there is no absolute truth. View article →

Understanding the Times

To remain as informed as possible on what is going on in Evangelical Christianity in our time I read and listen to many varied sources. Some of these sources you may or may not view in as good a light as others and some may not be “up there” like they used to be. I am convinced that a lot of that is perception and opinion and we must be discerning; being as wise as serpents while as innocent as doves as we seek to learn what God is teaching us. I still subscribe to Tabletalk Magazine from Ligonier Ministries even though they have guest writers each month in it of the type that I often warn you good people about. However, they also often have gems that make my subscription worthwhile. I received my September 2012 issue today and it is quite good. The interview section in this edition is of Carl Trueman who I deeply respect. View article →

Male and Female — Incomprehensible?

Dr. Peter Jones, Director of truthXchange, reveals what our future may look like if we continue down the path of liberalism. He warns that if radical homosexual activists have their way, normative male/female distinctions will be erased. Eventually homosexuality, transgenderism and bisexuality will be deemed normal. “The normal heterosexual world will be demeaned, sidelined and then condemned to silence.” View article →

Skipping over the Shooting at Family Research Center

Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center, criticizes the mainstream media for their scant reporting on Wednesday’s shooting at the Family Research Council headquarters. He informs us that,

Floyd Corkins, a volunteer for the last six months at the D.C. Center for the LGBT Community, marched into the Family Research Center with a gun and serious ammunition, denounced FRC’s policy positions and shot a security guard in the arm before being subdued. Another hate crime, but this time against, perhaps, the pre-eminent pro-family organization in America. CBS gave the story 20 seconds. NBC spent 17 seconds.

Christian Conservatives Take Sides in the David Barton Controversy

The controversy surrounding David Barton and his book, The Jefferson Lies, appears to have created a division among some Christian conservatives. World Magazine reports:

On one side are David Barton and his many readers. Barton has provided a useful service for many years in fighting the left’s interpretations of history. On the other side are other Christian conservatives who point out what they believe are inaccuracies in Barton’s work.

James White: Did Jesus Heal a “Same Sex Partner”?

An article appeared last week in The Huffington Post entitled, “When Jesus Healed a Same-Sex Partner.” The author argues that the word translated as “servant” in Matthew 8 and Luke 7 actually should be rendered as “lover.” This change would mean that, when Jesus healed the centurion’s servant, He actually was healing the centurion’s same-sex partner.

Dr. James White of Alpha & Omega Ministries responds to this appalling argument.
