To keep fans of The Chosen up to speed, I have laid out all my concerns in Is God really the one behind ‘The Chosen’ as the creator of the series declares? So I’m not going to do that here. However, the answer to my question is a resounding No! How do I know this? Because the creator of The Chosen, Dallas Jenkins, struck up a partnership with a pseudo-Christian cult that calls itself The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, formerly Mormonism, to produce the series even knowing full well that in 2 Cor 6:14-15 Paul makes it clear that believers are not to have intimate connections with non-believers:
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God.
Why? Because believers and non-believers are polar opposites. Paul compares light with darkness. He asks, “What accord has Christ with Belial.” Belial in Hebrew means wicked or worthless. Belial and Satan are one and the same. So Paul was asking God’s beloved to look before they leap into a pile of rubbish. Since God’s people have nothing in common with the dark underworld, refrain from getting involved. Continue reading

There is a certain hysteria currently amongst many of our 21st Century Puritans. Gov Gavin Newsom’s “gross mismanagement of the nation’s most-populated state is the stuff of legend, but he never misses an opportunity to blame Republicans who have no say in his one-party state. This time, it was to hammer Donald Trump, who Newsom said chose “to politicize it” (by saying true things about Newsom’s governance). Unfortunately for Newsom, he “did the meme.” He grumbled about Trump while standing with the fire behind him on CNN — just like that infamous CNN reporter who explained that the George Floyd riots in Minneapolis were “fiery by mostly peaceful.”

Over the past several days I have been under a great deal of time pressure in the morning so that my usual time I spend with the Lord in my daily devotions has been very hurried sometimes, while at others I have been so rushed I have had to neglect it altogether. The worst part of that, of course, is the time I spend in prayer. This morning was different though. I was able to quietly get into my usual place with no one else around and get into my devotionals, my Bible, and my prayer journal. And, what happened? I opened my Morning by Morning devotional from Spurgeon to January 8th and it was like God was speaking directly to me about my resentments and anger about my daily quiet time being treated as if it meant nothing….
