License to Not Sin

“And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world” (1 John 2:2).

Does forgiveness enable sin?

Probably the most frequent go-to verse for assurance of pardon in a worship service is 1 John 1:9. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

This assurance is honey to our flagging spirits when they are weighed down by the guilt of sin. It bathes the guilty conscience with the refreshing waters of God’s grace. Continue reading

Tim Keller vs Joel Webbon: Family Compromise

“Keller’s family life went viral over the weekend, and so did Joel Webbon. While I had known that Webbon had a communist brother, according to him, many, including myself, were unaware that his brother is also a tranny.”

(Ray Fava – Evangelical Dark Web) One of the lesser-known issues with Tim Keller was his compromise on homosexuality. Indeed, The Gospel Coalition has been the leading organization pioneering the heresy of Side B theology which teaches that homosexual desires and identity are not sinful. But the reason for Tim Keller’s compromise was an “every single time” situation. Continue reading

LGBTQ Cross Carried Into St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo Urges Bishops to Celebrate Pride Mass

“These events are sponsored by Jonathan’s Tent, a pro-LGBTQ activist group dedicated to advocating for full acceptance, inclusion, and celebration of LGBTQ Catholics in the life of the Church. The group is named “Jonathan’s Tent” because they believe Jonathan and David had a homosexual relationship.”

(Protestia) For the first time in history, a rainbow pride cross was officially processed into the heart of the Vatican after hundreds of LGBTQ Catholics attended mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, with the blessing of Pope Leo, who personally encouraged the vice president of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, Bishop Francesco Savino, to celebrate with them. Catholicism, ‘Invincible Ignorance,’ and the Exclusivity of Christ

“Paul was not canonizing ignorance in this passage, he was detonating it with a command to repent and believe, or else!”

(The Dissenter) An article at Patheos came across my radar recently that piqued my interest. It’s peddling the tired old Roman Catholic view of “invincible ignorance”, or the idea that maybe atheists can slip into heaven if they just don’t “know better.” It’s not nuance, it’s nonsense. It’s essentially universalism, and the Scriptures don’t pat ignorance on the head. It brands it rebellion and judgment. Continue reading

What are Wheat and Tares?

9 But the Lord God called to the man, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 Who said, I heard thy voice in the garden and was afraid: because I was naked, therefore I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 Then the man said, The woman which thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the Lord God said to the woman, Why hast thou done this? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 14 ¶ Then the Lord God said to the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field: upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. 15 I will also put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed. He shall break thine head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:9-15 Read Matthew 13:24-30 and Matthew 13:36-43 on the site.

When I lived in the Kansas City area, I had a preacher ask me what a tare was. He knew that I was from Oklahoma and he thought I would know. I am no country boy, but when I was a young man, I worked in a grain elevator. Actually, most wheat farmers I knew complained about a weed, which grew in their fields, they called “Cheat.”… Continue reading

Encountering the Living God

(Bill Muehlenberg – Culture Watch) I read the opening chapters of Ezekiel again this morning, and when I walked my dog afterwards, I prayed that I would have the experience that Ezekiel had. Let me explain. In chapter 1 we read about Ezekiel’s encounter with the glory of the Lord.

In verse 28 we read this: “Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking.” Continue reading

BOMBSHELL: President Trump Was an FBI Informant Against Epstein

“They’re creating a hoax, just like they did with the Russian dossier, because they think it’s going to somehow be mud thrown on him. It’s not. He has no culpability in this thing at all. The president has clean hands. He wants all the records out. He has told me that himself.”

(Matt Margolis – PJ Media) House Speaker Mike Johnson made a stunning revelation Thursday in response to questions from CNN’s Manu Raju about President Donald Trump’s use of the term “hoax” to describe the ongoing controversy surrounding the Epstein files. In defending the president, Johnson disclosed that Trump had once acted as an FBI informant against Jeffrey Epstein—a fact that has never before been publicly acknowledged by a sitting congressional leader. EU Speech Regulations Will Affect Americans

“If stating the fact that a man cannot be a woman is understood to be violence or terrorism, then your country is not living in reality, is not free, and is on the path to destruction. The UK seems to have gone through the Lewis Carol looking glass and is following the same path of confusion and backwards ‘logic’ into which Alice stumbled.”

(Thomas Gallatin – The Patriot Post) One of the most telltale giveaways of totalitarianism is the active suppression of free speech rights. That’s because people who are free to speak their minds are also free to influence others’ viewpoints and challenge the official state dogma. Continue reading

Minneapolis Shooter Had Another Target…and It Wasn’t Annunciation School

“Notice how this story has died quickly ever since Westman was identified as transgender and anti-Trump. The shooter hated everyone, but there was nothing the media could use to attack conservatives. Instead, we’ve seen the media play games, like not knowing what the motive was.”

(Matt Vespa – Townhall) Robert “Robin” Westman shot and killed two kids at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Another 17 were wounded during the attack, which was during a mass commemorating the new school year…. Continue reading

Damning New Evidence Emerges in Biden Autopen Scandal

“The expectation that autopen would handle Biden’s pardons and commutations says everything about how his White House operated and raises legitimate questions about who was really running the country. Staffers routinely mechanically applied Biden’s signature to legal documents, and now we know his own counsel admitted he never actually reviewed what he was supposedly signing.”

(Matt Margolis – PJ Media) Fresh revelations about Joe Biden’s autopen scandal paint a picture so damning that even his most loyal defenders should be squirming in their seats. Internal emails obtained by the New York Post show a White House in complete disarray, with staff frantically scrambling to figure out whether Biden actually knew what documents were being signed in his name. Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God

29 On the next day he sees  Jesus coming to him and he says, “Look the Lamb of God, the one taking away the sin of the world.” John 1:29 (translated from the NA28 Greek text to English)

In my Nave’s Topical Bible there is a subsection under “Atonement” titled “Atonement – Made by Jesus.” It covers half of page 85 and runs through half of page 88. I find it interesting that the post-modern leaders in the emergent church such as the late Brian McLaren focus so much of their energies on trying to deny that the Lord Jesus’ substitutionary sacrifice on the Cross to atone for the sins of His people was the primary mission of His incarnation…. Kennedy Turns Tables on Democrats in Fiery Hearing on CDC, Vaccines

Throughout the hearing, Democrats shouted at Kennedy and interrupted him, refusing to allow him to answer their questions even as they made incendiary accusations that he was “corrupt” and a “charlatan.”

(Joel B. Pollak – Breitbart) Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. turned the tables on Democrats on Thursday during a fiery Senate hearing in the wake of the recent firing of CDC Director Susan Monarez.

As the hearing commenced, Democrats held a rally outside the Capitol, demanding that he resign his post. Continue reading

The Ultimate Poison Pill: The Death of the Democratic Party and the Difference Between Good and Evil

“More Democrats have positive views of socialism (67 percent) than capitalism (50 percent). Strong liberals lead the way with 82 percent having favorable views of socialism compared to 28 percent who feel positive toward capitalism. Among Americans under 30, 62 percent feel favorable toward socialism, and 50 percent feel favorable toward capitalism.”

(Scott Pinsker – PJ Media) Theologians dedicate their lives to understanding the Almighty, but even the wisest, smartest theologian’s understanding is limited: A finite being is incapable of fully understanding an Infinite Being. The disparity is simply too great. Continue reading

Former GMA Dove Award Winner Holds Beachside ‘Wedding’ with Homosexual Partner

“The same man who once swore allegiance to the Lamb has now pledged allegiance to his flesh. After divorcing his wife of 33 years and announcing in 2008 that he was a homosexual, Boltz retreated into silence for a long time. But now, somewhere on a beach, maybe in Florida, we don’t know, that silence was broken—not with repentance, but with vows.”

(The Dissenter) Back in the 90s, few voices rang louder in evangelical youth groups than Ray Boltz. Choirs sang his ballads, even parents wept at his lyrics, and GMA Dove Awards were stacked on his shelf. Continue reading

Did the Jeffrey Epstein Victims Just Exonerate Trump?

“I thought this was about justice for the victims, who were abused by the dead New York financier and his right-hand woman Ghislaine Maxwell, who Democrats lusted to be deposed, got deposed, and then also exonerated Trump…”

(Matt Vespa – Townhall) The Jeffrey Epstein story was bound to become a circus, and the chances doubled once Democrats and the liberal media thought they could use it to take down President Donald Trump. The derangement exhibited by these people has long reached epic levels, to the point where rumor and speculation has replaced reality and facts…. Continue reading

Surprise, Jen Hatmaker Completely Denounces Church, Says She May Never Go Back

(The Dissenter) “The apostle John makes it clear: “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us” (1 John 2:19).”

To abandon the bride of Christ is not a side path in the Christian life—it is to abandon Christ Himself. There is no way around this truth. You cannot sever yourself from His people and pretend to cling to His Person. The bride and the Bridegroom are inseparably joined. Reject one, and you reject the other. Continue reading

Trump Orders U.S. Military Strike on Drug Boat, Killing 11 Tren de Aragua Terrorists in Warning to Traffickers

“U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared, “We are going to wage combat against drug cartels that are flooding American streets and killing Americans,” as he prepared to depart on a trip to Mexico and Ecuador.”

(Bob Price – Breitbart) On direct orders from President Donald Trump, U.S. military forces launched a precision strike on a drug-laden vessel in international waters, killing 11 Tren de Aragua narcoterrorists en route to the United States. Trump declared the operation a clear warning to traffickers that those who smuggle poison toward American shores will face swift and lethal consequences. Continue reading

Sola Scriptura and unbelief

Sola Scriptura – In Sacred scripture alone

Sola Gratia – Salvation is by grace alone

Sola Fide – Through faith alone

Solus Christus – In Christ alone

Soli Deo Gloria! – For the glory of God alone!

1 Then was Jesus led aside of the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days, and forty nights, he was afterward hungry. 3 Then came to him the tempter, and said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answering, said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:1-4 (1599 Geneva Bible)

Unbelief is the fruit of arrogance. I hear nearly every day from some Emergent/Post-Modern know-it-all that certainty is the product of pride and the only ones who are truly humble are those who view uncertainty in all things as a virtue. What is unbelief in this context? To define it we must first define its opposite, belief. Continue reading

The Fruit of the Spirit: Introduction

(Robb Brunansky – The Cripplegate) The fruit of the Holy Spirit addresses a critical concern in our day – the importance of cultivating virtue. Virtue is a word not often used, but it basically means moral excellency. It speaks to the moral fabric woven throughout our lives. To be a person of virtue means to live according to biblical convictions. Virtue speaks to the character and quality of the heart.

We don’t hear a lot today in the church about virtue, character, or moral excellency. There might be many reasons for this omission but let me suggest a couple. The first is that calling people to a high standard of moral excellence is to place a demand on them. These demands are difficult to fit in with our typical mindset of making the church consumer friendly and minding our own business. Continue reading

J.K. Rowling Might End Up Canceling Cancel Culture All on Her Own

J.K. Rowling, Wikimedia Commons photo

(Stephen Kruiser – PJ Media) Okay, just a few quick post-holiday Monday musings, then everyone can throw themselves back into a normal schedule. I hope everyone who had the day off enjoyed it.

My daughter was born right around the time that the first Harry Potter books were published, so that whole phenomenon was a big part of her youth. Honestly, all of that was more pleasant to deal with as a parent than most of what Disney was putting out at the time. I even read the first few books in the series just to see what all of the hoopla was about.

I might have read them all if I’d known how cool J.K. Rowling would turn out to be. Continue reading

The Incarnation of Christ

I am reading a book by J.C. Ryle right now. It is awesome if you like Biblical exegetical studies, that is. In any case, the name of the book is Expository thoughts on The Gospel of John. This post is born out of my reading the chapter titled “John 1:15-18”, which I read this afternoon as I was parked in the parking lot at the school where my two grandsons are enrolled. I was waiting for them to exit the building so I could drive them home. I finished the chapter about 5 minutes before I started seeing students coming out. I knew right then that I was going to put something together this evening about what I read. I pray this blesses you my brethren. Continue reading

The CDC, RFK, and the Science

“For purely research purposes, let’s take a look at one of these scientific geniuses. Daskalakis declared that RFK’s moves “do not reflect scientific reality” and that the CDC had reached an “unfettered situation where undue influence and ideology would drive the science.” That would be a shame, wouldn’t it, Demetre? Well, that’s just what happened to Daskalakis, who, by the way, is a Satanist.”

(Nate Jackson – The Patriot Post) You remember the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, right? The CDC is the government agency that told us to mask up and stay six feet apart during the COVID pandemic. The gaggle of bureaucrats who colluded with teachers unions to close schools. The gang of doctors and scientists who pushed vaccines that didn’t measure up to promises and then quietly updated damaging data. Continue reading

Should Christians Rebuke Satan?

“Should we be giving orders to fallen angels? Should Christians rebuke Satan to fight their sin?”

(Dan Crabtree – The Cripplegate) If you were to tour Martin Luther’s house in Wittenberg today, you would see a dark spot on the wall of his study. The docents of the property attribute this spot to a famous incident in which Luther, awakened in the night by Satan, grabbed an inkwell and threw it at the Tempter. Whether or not the story is true, it made it into a collection of stories by the Brothers Grimm, and has become a kind of historical footnote to the modern practice of Satan rebuke. Continue reading

John MacArthur’s Son, President of ‘Grace To You’ Ministries, Shares Vision for Future

“Like so many of you, I’ve loved this ministry all my life. And while these days are marked by both sorrow and joy, I want you to know that I am more committed than ever to the work God entrusted to us through my father.”

(Protestia) Matt MacArthur, son of the late John MacArthur and the President of Grace To You Ministries, has shared an update regarding the continued vision for the organization following John’s death over a month ago.

Founded in 1969, Grace to You is a nonprofit media ministry that has distributed John MacArthur’s Bible resources—including sermons, books, videos, and pamphlets—for over five decades, reaching millions worldwide. Continue reading

The Transgender Movement is a Violent Cult

“I use the word “cult” because that’s exactly what the trans movement is. Other than not having a central leader (if anything, their “leader” is social media), it exhibits almost every classic characteristic of a cult.”

(C.A. Skeet – PJ Media) Robert Westman. Otherwise known as “Robin.” Does that name ring a bell? He was the hate-filled, anti-Christian transgendered coward who murdered three children and three adults at the Covenant School in Nashville. For years, Nashville law enforcement and the court system conspired to keep the shooter’s 100-plus pages of writings under lock and key, until the FBI released them earlier this year.

Oh wait, my bad. That was Audrey Hale. Continue reading
