Netflix is developing adaptations of The Chronicles of Narnia

According to Jon Porter of The Verge, Netflix is doing a new series of films based on C.S. Lewis’ seven books.  No doubt the Netflix versions will water down the books’ Christian themes of redemption and grace, take God out of it, and introduce LGBTQ+ characters, something the Christian author would never have allowed.  Here’s the story:

Netflix has obtained the rights to The Chronicles of Narnia and will be producing “new series and film projects” based on the children’s fantasy books. The seven titles released between 1950 and 1956 have already provided the inspiration for numerous adaptations and Hollywood films. Continue reading

The sin of lying

Lying is the most prominent sin of mankind, and because truth is the most essential characteristic of Christianity, in Ephesians 4:22-29 which lists the remnants of the old man that are sins that are most likely to creep back into the Christian’s life, Paul mentions lying first.

20 But you did not learn Christ in this way, 21 if indeed you heard Him and were taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 to put off the old man, which pertains to your former manner of life, the one being corrupted according to the lusts of deceit, 23 and to be renewed by the Spirit controlling your mind, 24 and putting on the new man, the one according to God having been created in righteousness and sanctity of the truth. Accused!

“In the late 1980s and into the 1990s claims of memories of Satanic Ritual Abuse and sexual abuse began to arise from the therapeutic “sofas” of psychiatrists and psychologists at an alarming rate – under the general description of “Repressed Memory Syndrome” by its advocates and “False Memory Syndrome” by those who were falsely accused.”

(Don & Joy Veinot – Midwest Christian Outreach) If someone is accused, should they be automatically presumed guilty? This is not really a new question but an age-old issue. For example, in 1642 Salem Village, Massachusetts  over 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft. Most, like Caribbean slave, Tituba, “confessed,” hoping to avoid conviction by becoming an “informer” leveling accusations against others. … Continue reading

Revoice and God’s Design for the Family

“But as I have stated before, along with many others, the trouble with Revoice is the content. What Revoice proposes is a departure from what Christians have historically believed about key doctrines and their ethical implications. Revoice represents a theology and ethic which, if allowed to take root in the PCA, will lead us into great and grievous errors.”

(Todd Pruitt – Mortification of Spin)  In the weeks since the Revoice conference, nothing I have read has lessened my deep concern about the theology and ethic taught at the event. Given where the conference was hosted I wonder whether the theology of Revoice will be given a place in the PCA. I suppose it already has. Continue reading

Ford Co-Authored Paper Pushing Hypnosis, Using To Enhance Memory

The left isn’t gong to like this, but in 1997 The New York Times published the findings of a study that found hypnosis could cause false memories:  “HYPNOSIS, even self-hypnosis, can sometimes result in the creation of false memories — the belief that something happened even though it never did. A psychologist at Ohio State University in Lima and fellow researchers found that even when people were warned about the possibility of acquiring pseudo-memories under hypnosis, more than a quarter of them did anyway.”

(Lisa Payne-Naeger – Conservative Tribune) Trauma is a terrible thing. It can be devastating and its effects should never be played down in the public mind. Continue reading

Judgment

9 “I kept looking Until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow And the hair of His head like pure wool. His throne was ablaze with flames, Its wheels were a burning fire. 10 “A river of fire was flowing And coming out from before Him; Thousands upon thousands were attending Him, And myriads upon myriads were standing before Him; The court sat, And the books were opened. Daniel 7:9-10 (NASB)

Before we look at Revelation 20:11-15, take a moment to reflect on the carnage being wrought upon the visible church in our time by the very men who, by their own positions, should be shepherding the sheep. Instead, they are actually doing the very things to bring about the famine of hearing the Word of God and, hence, spiritual darkness seems to be all around us right in the midst of the “Church.” Mysticism in the guise of Spiritual Formation is being flim-flamed off on the unsuspecting as if it is another form of Christian prayer. …  View article →

Confidence in Pope Francis Down Sharply in U.S.

By a two-to-one margin, American Catholics now give Francis negative marks for his handling of the sex abuse scandal

(Pew Research Center) As allegations and investigations of sex abuse in the Catholic Church become more widespread, a new Pew Research Center survey finds that confidence in the way Pope Francis is handling the crisis has plummeted among U.S. Catholics. Just three-in-ten Catholic adults say Francis is doing an “excellent” or a “good” job addressing the issue, which is down 24 points since 2015 and 14 points from when Pew Research Center last asked the question in January of this year. Ford’s Ex-Boyfriend Pens Damning Letter Detailing Her Helping a Friend Prep For a Polygraph

“I witnessed Dr. Ford help McLean prepare for a potential polygraph exam. Dr. Ford explained in detail what to expect, how polygraphs worked and helped McLean become familiar and less nervous about the exam. Dr. Ford was able to help because of her background in psychology.”

(Beth Baumann – Townhall) Late Tuesday night Fox News received a copy of a letter from one of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s ex-boyfriends who claims Ford has experience coaching her former roommate on polygraph tests, which contradicts Ford’s testimony under oath. Continue reading

Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase?

8 And why not say (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), “Let us do evil that good may come”? Their condemnation is just. Romans 3:8 (NASB)

The debate in the visible Church in our time concerning the need for Christians to walk in Repentance is actually quite perplexing to those of us whose hearts and consciences are bound to the Word of God. It clearly exhorts us all to repent and walk in righteousness. I had a conversation with a Pastor several years ago at lunch following his sermon that Sunday morning. …  View article →

Kavanaugh Accuser’s Recollection May Stem from False Memory, Suggests Psychology Professor

Mather explained how a concept called the “availability heuristic” helps explain part of the phenomenon of false memories.  “The availability heuristic allows us to kind of base our belief in the confidence of what we’re retrieving on how easily we recalled it.”

(Michele Blood – LifeZette) Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation of sexual assault at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh (shown above right; Ford is at left) could stem from a false memory, Dr. Robert Mather told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham Monday night on “The Ingraham Angle.” Continue reading

Liberation-Not For Everybody

Youth Testify, a new program launched by Advocates for Youth and the National Network of Abortion Funds is “helping young people advocate for their reproductive rights and reframe the narrative around abortion.” Reframe the narrative? According to Peter Jones, re-framing means that “not a word of warning will be given to young women about the death knell that will forever echo in their hearts.” (Emphasis added)  Not surprisingly, the new program has the help of abortion mill and seller of baby body parts, Planned Parenthood.

Dr. Jones believes that “This immoral seduction of the rising generations in the West is working.” And he wonders, “What kind of a society will these conscience-hardened young people create when they become our judges, senators, newspaper editors and school teachers?”

A very frightening prospect.

Foreign gods and idolatry

1 Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.” 2 So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods which are among you, and purify yourselves and change your garments; 3 and let us arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.” Genesis 35:1-3 (NASB)

idolatry 1: the worship of a physical object as a god 2: immoderate attachment or devotion to something (from Webster’s Ninth Collegiate Dictionary)

I’m sure that most Christians’ conception of idolatry is one in which people fall down and worship some statue or image or a facsimile of something that appears to resemble a god. While that is an example of idolatry there is a more subtle form of idolatry that all people are neck deep in outside of the grace of God. … View article →

‘LGBTQ’ Activists at ‘Devoted’ Youth Pastor Conference

“The “Devoted” conference will be held in Cincinnati October 30. It should move to October 31— Halloween — since this event is a profane masquerade of authentic Christian faith. The posture of a “gay-chaste-identity” is a huge scam. Public shamelessness in the name of God signals profound double-mindedness. To even adopt an open “orientation” of sexual sin reveals a level of submission to evil, depraved desires—what is called an “abomination” in Scripture, let’s not forget.”

(Linda Harvey – Mission America)  The priest or evangelical minister who claims an “LGBTQ” identity, but pledges to remain celibate, cannot be trusted to do so.

Can I repeat that? We cannot trust them. Such foolish tolerance should never be the policy in evangelical churches, and as we can now see, clinging to such identities should never have been allowed in the Catholic church. Continue reading

Prosecutor Who Questioned Ford Shreds Her Case In Five-Page Memo

#9 – The activities of congressional Democrats and Dr. Ford’s attorneys likely affected Dr. Ford’s account

(Ryan Saavedra – Daily Wire)  Rachel Mitchell, the prosecutor who questioned Christine Blasey Ford last week during a hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, wrote a five-page memo that was released on Sunday that outlines why she would not bring criminal charges against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Mitchell’s memo notes nine significant problems with Ford’s testimony and underscores that her case is “even weaker” than a “he said, she said” case. Continue reading

Fox News Cowards Spread Fake News that Christine Blasey Ford Is ‘Credible’

This is monstrous behavior, unforgivable, un-American—the stuff of lynch mobs, of quislings—and it is the fakest of fake news.

By any standard of truth, fairness, classical liberalism, evidence, and facts, Dr. Ford is not only not credible, she is nothing close to credible.

Let me count the ways…

Language Alert

(John Nolte – Breitbart) On Thursday, Judge Andrew Napolitano handed the mob all the rope they could possibly ask for, courtesy of Fox News, saying, “All of us agree that this witness is exceptionally credible.” No one argued with him.

Listen, I am not here to signal my own virtue. I am not David French, or Matthew Dowd, or Jake Tapper. The reason I have defended those whose politics and character disgust me has nothing to do with virtue and everything to do with self-preservation. Continue reading

Godliness and transformation

1 Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:1-11 (NASB) (Read verses 4-11 on the site)

What is this godliness that Peter referred to in v3 (above)? The word godliness in v3 translates the Greek noun εὐσέβειαν (eusebeian) which is the accusative, singular, feminine case of εὐσέβεια (eusebeia). This word is used in the N.T. To refer to a particular manner of life in which the believer is devoted to God. In 1 Timothy 4:7, for instance, Paul exhorts believers to train themselves for “godliness” even to the extent that it requires a strenuous pursuit (6:11). Of course, the goal of such training is far more valuable than physical training (4:8). View article →

Wisdom in the power of God

6 But wisdom we speak among the mature, yet it is a wisdom not of this age or of the rulers of this age, the ones being brought to nothing; 1 Corinthians 2:6 (translated from the NA28 Greek text)

Every generation of genuine Christians must fight the battles for the truth and correct doctrine. Some of these “Truth Wars,” as John MacArthur calls them, have been worse and longer than others, but the one we are in now has been especially ugly with outright defections from within what most would consider the bulwark of Christian leaders who have shown their true liberal colors. However, what has been most enlightening to this Christian has been the absolute faithfulness of our Lord in the building of his church in the midst of rampant apostasy, pop-culture so-called chrisitianity, the decimation of local churches on a huge scale with the proliferation of mega-churches that are seeker-sensitive and politically correct non-gospel man-centered fake churches. … View article →

Republicans Should Not Have Delayed the Kavanaugh Vote

“Judiciary Committee Democrats do not want an FBI investigation of allegations against Judge Kavanaugh because they think it will be especially illuminating or reliable. They want it because it will result in delay, giving them the breathing room necessary to come up with more reasons for delay.”

(Andrew C. McCarthy – National Review)  They gave Democrats exactly what they wanted.

You have opponents whose first and only objective is delay. From the start of the confirmation proceedings on Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, those opponents, Senate Democrats, have thus pushed for delay. At every turn. Of course they never come out and say that’s what they’re doing — they never come out and say, “We’ve abused the confirmation process and dropped a bomb at the eleventh hour, an uncorroborated, 36-year-old allegation of sexual assault, because we’re trying to delay the vote until after the midterms.” But delay is what they want. Blockbuster New Viganò Letter to Pope

Rod Dreher posted the letter in its entirety over at The American Conservative. You can read Viganò’s first letter here. In it Dreher stated that:

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, who served at the papal nuncio (that is, Vatican ambassador) to the United States from 2011-2016, has dropped an atomic bomb on Francis’s papacy, charging that “corruption has reached the very top of the Church’s hierarchy.”

Now Dreher has received a second letter from the Archbishop. He begins his piece by telling us that Carlo Maria Viganò has a new statement that was released to him through an Italian journalist. He then posted the “blockbuster” letter: Continue reading

Our Present Sufferings

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. – Romans 8:18

The theme of that verse and the next nine verses is that incomparable glory lies ahead — glory beyond description, greater than anything you can compare it with on earth. A magnificent and fantastic prospect awaits us. All through the Scriptures there has been a thread of hope, a rumor of hope that runs all through the Old Testament, through the prophetic writings, and into the New Testament. This rumor speaks of a day that is coming when all the hurt and heartache and injustice and weakness and suffering of our present experience will be explained and justified and will result in a time of incredible blessing upon the earth. The whisper of this in the Old Testament increases in intensity as it approaches the New Testament, where you come to proclamations like this that speak of the incomparable glory that lies ahead. ‘Gay Christian’ Event Planned with Mark Dever’s Capitol Hill Baptist Church

Mark Dever is the senior pastor of the Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., author, speaker and the president of 9Marks, a ministry that encourages pastors to go to the Bible for instruction on how to lead their churches. Even though Dever’s doctrinal teaching is said to be stellar, this popular pastor is among those who embrace “Social Justice Christianity.” Now we learn that there’s going to be a “gay Christian” event in partnership with Dever’s church and Sam Allberry’s Living Out.  Allberry’s an apologist and writer for Ravi Zacharias International Ministries and a consulting editor for The Gospel Coalition. What’s troubling is that Allberry, who’s a pastor in Maidenhead UK, identifies as a “gay Christian” and is among those who have “decided” to become celibate for Christ.

MassResistance website taken down by web hosting company after ‘complaints’ by homosexual activist – a convicted sex offender.

“The whole experience was with HostGator was Orwellian. First they claimed our site was taken down due to a copyright violation. Then they changed their mind and said it was about “personally identifiable information.” Then they simply stopped communicating with us entirely.”

(MassResistance) On Thursday, Sept. 20 the MassResistance website was suddenly taken down by the hosting company, HostGator, reacting to frivolous “complaints” by a homosexual activist (a convicted sex offender – who molested a minor). People who tried to access our website were met with a cryptic message but no further explanation. Continue reading
