Pope Puts up Painting of Naked Jesus in Personal Study

(Protestia)  In an act of grossness and perversity, Pope Francis put up a painting in his personal study of a resurrected nude Jesus, ministering to Judas while his buttocks, hips, and thighs are partially exposed.

The story comes from the Vatican’s own newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, which is vetted by the Roman Catholic leaders before it is published. The paper dedicated several pages to speculating whether or not Judas was in hell while the editorial notes that this painting was given by an artist, a piece of inspirational and meaningful art that hangs behind his desk. Christians are being exhorted to put their minds on hold through meditation and take a step into the supernatural realm. Is it biblical to connect with the supernatural realm?  Several years ago, “Pastor” Rob Bell, who once led the sheep astray at Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville, MI, said the following:

Central to the Christian tradition, for thousands of years, have been disciplines of meditation, reflection, silence, and breathing. It was understood that to be a healthy person, to be fully connected with God, and fully centered you would spend significant parts of your day in silence–breathing, meditating–praying allowing the Spirit of God to transform you and touch you.

For a number of years, Rob Bell has been leading Christians into dangerous Eastern religious beliefs and rituals.  Led astray by Bell and other Christian luminaries, the sheep believe it is possible to have a special experience with “God” by practicing “disciplines” that will supposedly transform those who practice them. No matter what category this ministry is placed in some peoples’ catalogs, I still see myself as primarily a teacher of God’s Word. Several years ago while I was just getting started writing and blogging I was working with Ken Silva, Ingrid Schlueter, and Jim Bublitz on the old Slice of Laodicia website dealing with the hateful attacks coming from the Emergent and Seeker apologists who had a massive disdain for nearly everything Ingrid or Ken posted there. They also went after the rest of us who supported them grouping us together calling us “haters, narrow-minded, and bigoted” among other things I can’t share here. Officer Sicknick Died of Natural Causes, Not Riot Injuries

(Julie Kelly – American Greatness)  Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, according to a bombshell today in the Washington Post, died January 7 of natural causes not from injuries sustained in the Capitol protest the day before. The D.C. medical examiner told the Post that Sicknick suffered two strokes caused by a blood clot at the base of his brain stem.

“Francisco J. Diaz, the medical examiner, said the autopsy found no evidence the 42-year-old officer suffered an allergic reaction to chemical irritants, which Diaz said would have caused Sicknick’s throat to quickly seize,” the Post reported. “Diaz also said there was no evidence of internal or external injuries.”  Continue reading →

The Fruit of Devotion

13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 1 Timothy 4:13 (translated from the NA28 Greek text)

As the passage above (1 Timothy 4:13) makes clear, to the Apostle Paul the centrality of preaching in Christian ministry was critical. He knew that the fruit of that was the working of the Holy Spirit in the Body of Christ producing godliness. However, its neglect produces its own fruit. I am not exaggerating when I state that most ministries today are built on entertainment, personality, crowd-gathering events, gimmicks, programs, and any thing entrepreneurs can come up with to draw people together that simply appeal to the flesh, which can be summed up by one term: pragmatism. However, that was not nor has it ever been the Biblical model of a Christian ministry. Continue reading →
