FISA Applications Confirm: The FBI Relied on the Unverified Steele Dossier

“In my public comments Sunday morning, I observed that the newly disclosed FISA applications are so shoddy that the judges who approved them ought to be asked some hard questions. I’ve gotten flak for that, no doubt because President Trump tweeted part of what I said. I stand by it. Still, some elaboration, which a short TV segment does not allow for, is in order.”

(Andrew C. McCarthy – National Review)  On a sleepy summer Saturday, after months of stonewalling, the FBI dumped 412 pages of documents related to the Carter Page FISA surveillance warrants — the applications, the certifications, and the warrants themselves. Now that we can see it all in black and white — mostly black, as they are heavily redacted — it is crystal clear that the Steele dossier, an unverified Clinton-campaign product, was the driving force behind the Trump–Russia investigation. UK public health service accused of giving kids with autism sex change drugs

“Pro-family advocates around the world have warned that conversion therapy bans can be so broadly interpreted as to prohibit simple, responsible conversations about gender issues. Pro-LGBT activists have dismissed such talk as fear-mongering, yet it appears to be coming true in the UK.”

(Calvin Freiburge – LifeSite News) The UK’s National Health Service has administered puberty-stopping drugs to up to 150 children who may have been suffering from autism and not gender dysphoria, a new report has found. Continue reading

Courage found to pray

By Mike Ratliff

27 For You, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have made a revelation to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house’; therefore Your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to You. 2 Samuel 7:27 (NASB)

There is a difference between how a genuine believer should pray and how most professing Christians actually pray. Our perception is that we pray as we feel or desire or as the result of viewing both our needs and other’s needs. What we often overlook is that God is heavily involved in all aspects of our sanctification and that includes leading us in prayer. God loves those who are His and blessing them is part of His expression of that love. Continue reading

Why the Prosperity Gospel is so poisonous

“We don’t worship God to get his good gifts.  We worship God because God is infinitely worthy of our worship, whatever gifts he gives or doesn’t give us.”

(Kate Bowler)  I’m sure you’ve heard the following:

“You are a King’s Kid as a Christian, you are royalty!  You shouldn’t settle for second best!”

“God favour should overflow into your life as you walk in God’s anointing and enjoy health and financial prosperity!”

“God hates poverty and illness, you should claim your victory!” Continue reading

If You’re Looking for a Church with These Qualities, Look Again

How we choose a congregation today tells us more about ourselves and our closeness to Scripture than anything else.

(Ryan Day)  Searching for a new church today is not easy. Fifty years ago, devoted Christian people like our grandparents had a much easier time reaching a decision about which church to attend.

Most people of that generation made their decision based on things like the church’s basic faithfulness to Scripture and sound doctrine, the friendliness and spirit of the congregation, the preaching and leadership of the pastor, and the general cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere of the church building. Supergirl TV Show To Introduce First Transgender Superhero

“The LGBT identity movement is pushing full steam ahead to receive not only tolerance, but celebration from every segment of culture, teaching the false idea that one’s identity is found in sexuality and gender. With homosexuality, bi-sexuality and now transsexuality being normalized in every day media, what will be the next push for inclusion?”

(Movieguide) It was announced at Comic-Con this past weekend that the CW is further pushing the LGBT agenda by introducing the first trans superhero in the TV series SUPERGIRL. The show, which originated on CBS moved to CW to join the other DC entities ARROW, THE FLASH and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. … Continue reading

Life in the Spirit as heirs with Christ

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to the ones in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1 (translated from the NA28 Greek text)

Romans 8 is best understood after reading the Apostle Paul’s exposition of his own “wretched man” trapped in a “body of death” in Romans 7:14-25. (Read these verses on the site)

There are some who teach from this passage saying that it describes Paul’s life before Christ citing that this description is contrary to his own account or description of true believers in Romans 6 (cf. vv. 2,6,7,11,17,18,22) . However, as we read this passage it is obvious that this is a believer because he desires to obey God’s law and hates his sin. He is humble, recognizing that nothing good dwells in his humanness. He sees sin in himself, but not as all that there is, and he serves Jesus Christ with his mind.  View article →

Citizenship and the Gospel of Jesus Christ

“When Jesus began his public ministry, he summarized his entire message this way: “The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). A new kingdom, a new nation, had been founded and he was now calling people to become citizens of it.”

(Tim Challies)  When people translate the New Testament from the original Greek language into modern English, they need to make decisions about how to best communicate the author’s intent. The translator doesn’t only ask “what words did he use?” but also “what did he mean to communicate to his readers?” In Philippians 1:27, most translators have made the decision to use the phrase “manner of life.” That’s a great decision that adds a lot of clarity to our understanding. But behind the phrase “manner of life” is very literally the Greek word for “citizen.” So Paul is literally saying: “let your citizenship be worthy of the gospel.” Why would he say that? Popular Breakfast Cereals Manufacturers Try To Indoctrinate Children

“When even your popular breakfast cereals try to sexualize children, you know your society’s in trouble.”

(Lee Duigon – News With Views)  What kind of society are we going to pass on to future generations? Who’s going to decide that? Who’s minding the store?

There are certain institutions who bear that responsibility. Our courts, our universities, and businesses—these three, among others, will have much to stay about the world we leave to our children and grandchildren. Our civilization’s future is very much in their hands—and they’ve got butterfingers. In fact, you’d almost swear they’re purposely trying to make a hash of it. Continue reading

New Netflix Series Depicts Jesus Returning to Earth as 12-Year-Old Boy

The law of liberty and the conscience

15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. Titus 1:15 (NASB)

I am constantly amazed at the diversity I witness in the believers who interact with this ministry. This, of course, displays Christ’s power to bring together in unity dissimilar people from every place on this planet and from all walks of life. Part of our sanctification is dealing with our unredeemed flesh. God uses it to humble as well as teach us to fight the good fight. We will never be totally sinless as long as we have our flesh within us. Our enemy also works within our flesh to create division in an effort to split what God has unified. Much of the attack from him and his minions will be to foment conflict between mature believers and those who are not so mature. Also, he is always working in a effort to create self-confidence and self-righteousness in believers. He knows that when believers fall into that trap they are working from a base of pride rather than humility. View article →

Debunking Lies About Heaven

Why is it important to know the truth about heaven? With all the contradicting theories and theologies, you can imagine that some Christians would prefer to live in blithe ignorance about what awaits beyond the grave. But knowing the truth about heaven is not just about being right for the sake of being right.

God’s people need to know the truth about heaven because it fixes our eyes on God, His kingdom, and the work He has called us to accomplish in the meantime. But knowing the truth also equips us to defend against the wide array of false teaching about heaven and eternal life. Already this week we have discussed unbiblical doctrines about heaven, including soul sleep and purgatory. Today we’ll consider some biblical texts that give us ammunition in the fight against these and other Satanic lies. View article →

Season Two of Netflix’s Anne of Green Gables Show Surprises Families by Making a Character a Lesbian

“The creators and writers behind ANNE WITH AN E want to influence young audiences to believe that homosexuality is an acceptable path for anyone who might be “questioning”. The discussion of gender and sexuality are in fact discussed ad nauseam. People in 2018 don’t need or want to see political/social debates take place on “family” TV shows, they see enough of it on social media or see it on the 5 ‘o clock news.”

(Tess Farrand – MovieGuide)  The Netflix Original series ANNE WITH AN E follows the beloved orphan character Anne, from Lucy Maude Montgomery’s novel, Anne of Green Gables. The second season of the show was released in early July 2018, and one episode has many viewers ditching the show because of surprising LGBT content in what should be a fairly broad audience TV series. Blind guides leading the blind

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’”  John 1:14-18 (NASB) (Read verses 16-18 on the site)

In John 1:18 the Apostle tells us that no one has ever seen God, but the Word who became flesh and tabernacled among us, that one, explained him. What got Jesus in hot water with the religious Jews during his earthly ministry? It was when he did that very thing and it was always in opposition to the presuppositions according to which the Scribes and Pharisees operated. …  View article →

‘Theybies’ — More Parents Keeping Their Child’s Gender a ‘Secret’

“Though the children are aware of their body parts and how they may differ from others, they are not taught to associate those body parts with being a boy or girl.”

(Cathy Burke – Newsmax) Over 200 parents around the country are raising “theybies” in a “gender-open” style that keeps the sex of their kids a secret — even from the children themselves, NBC News reported.

Carl Jung’s Descent Into Darkness

Jung “saw visions…heard voices…and even induced hallucinations, or in his words, ‘active imaginations.'” Jung would later write, “In order to grasp the fantasies which were stirring in me ‘underground,’ I knew that I had to let myself plummet down into them.” Jung was seemingly oblivious to the spiritual risks of such dark pursuits.

(Bill Delzell – Voices)  Human beings long for spiritual transcendence. And in an effort to achieve this lofty goal, multitudes of people choose to engage in various religious practices. Others try a different route turning to sexual promiscuity or drugs in search of a spiritual high, but this approach only produces physical, mental and spiritual bondage. And then there are those who intentionally open their soul to mysterious spirit guides in hopes of discovering hidden knowledge. Continue reading

Bethel Church’s ‘Apostle’ Bill Johnson: A Comedy of Errors, Part 1

By Marsha West

Repost 2018

Bill Johnson is no stranger to controversy.  For one thing, he claims to be an apostle, as in the unique position held by the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ.  He was given this high honor by [the late] C. Peter Wagner who holds many titles himself, including president of Global Harvest Ministries, chancellor of Wagner Leadership Institute, convening apostle of the New Apostolic Roundtable, and my personal favorite: presiding apostle of International Coalition of Apostles (ICA).  So for the purpose of this article I’ll refer to presiding apostle C. Peter Wagner as PA Peter. What’s important to know about this man is that he’s sort of like the pope of the “new apostolic-prophetic movement” [prior to his death].

Here’s ICA’s definition of a modern day apostle:

An apostle is a Christian leader gifted, taught, commissioned, and sent by God with the authority to establish the foundational government of the church within an assigned sphere of ministry by hearing what the Spirit is saying to the churches and by setting things in order accordingly for the growth and maturity of the church.

What role does a so-called apostle play?  There are a couple of tasks, says PA Peter.  First, apostles are to “set things in order” and “they’re to assure that the body of Christ is operating on the basis of sound, biblical doctrine.”

Sound biblical doctrine my Aunt Fanny!

PA Peter and his self-proclaimed apostles and prophets are false teachers. These men and women (yes, there are women apostles) are well aware that accusations of heresy have been leveled against them by a large number of highly regarded orthodox Bible scholars. Yet they continue the pretense.

In this two part series you’ll discover that the new apostolic-prophetic movement has taken many twists and turns over the years and why those of us involved in online discernment believe that this movement is a clear and present danger to the Body of Christ; thus, we will continue to warn the brethren about them.  (Acts 20:31)

Now, keep in mind that the men and women involved in this movement sincerely believe that they’re in the same league as the Old Testament prophets and our Lord’s hand-picked disciples who later became the Twelve Apostles.  NAR leaders have convinced people that the office of apostleship is not reserved for a select few, as the Bible clearly teaches.  They’ve convinced a large number of their followers that Christ is once again choosing apostles and prophets to preside over His Church.  Got Questions’ has this warning:

Those claiming the office of apostle seek authority equal to, or at least rivaling, the authority of the original twelve apostles. There is absolutely no biblical evidence to support such an understanding of the role of apostle today. This would fit with the New Testament’s warning against false apostles (2 Corinthians 11:13).

So – if it’s true that Christ is giving authority to a select few apostles and prophets, why would He choose individuals who possess questionable character?  I’ll have more on this in a moment.

Suffice it to say C. Peter Wagner and Bill Johnson believe that the Lord has given them the authority to rule over the Church.  If it’s also true that the so-called apostles are called by Christ to form a government to control the Church and that they will hold Church leaders accountable then who, pray tell, will hold them accountable?

Itching Ears

Without getting too far afield, since the new apostolic-prophetic movement’s inception it has been referred to in a number of different ways, i.e. Dominionism…Latter Rain…Joel’s Army…Manifest[ed] Sons of God…Kingdom Now…Charismatic Renewal…Positive Confession and a few others.  Its current handle, New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), was coined by PA Peter in the 1990s.  He “reinvigorated the Latter Rain/Manifest Sons of God false prophecies about a great endtime revival accompanied by signs and wonders.”  As I said, NAR leaders teach that God is restoring the lost offices of church governance – and they are His chosen ones to bring it to fruition!

Do not be surprised:

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,; and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths 2 Timothy 4:3

In Paul’s final warning to the Church he never suggested that believers embrace new movements.  On the contrary. Paul warned that they would not listen to the truth.  Commentator Matthew Poole clarifies:

Having itching ears; for their ears itch, and they must have those that will scratch them. The disease of lust in their souls brings forth an itch in their ears, that they will have a mind to hear only such as will by scratching please them.

Shall they heap to themselves teachers, will be finding out teachers, not according to God’s, but to their own hearts; and there will be plenty of them to be found, they shall heap them up, choosing them without any judgment, regarding nothing but whether they will not be smart upon their lusts. (emphasis in original)

Paul’s message throughout his entire letter was that the church must “follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me” (1:13); “guard the good deposit entrusted to you (1:14); “what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” (2:2).

Unity Over Doctrine

Now to “apostle” Bill Johnson.  Bethel Redding’s leadership holds to the theology of the Word of Faith (WoF) movement.  WoF doctrine teaches the occult belief that:

He [God] framed the world with His words. You can’t build without substance. He took words — faith-Filled words were God’s substance. Here, essentially, is what God did. God filled His words with faith. He used His words as containers to hold His faith and contain that spiritual force and transport it out there into the vast darkness by saying ‘Light be!’ That’s the way God transported His faith causing creation and transformation. One word: unscriptural

BC also has its roots in the early1980s movement dubbed by PA Peter the Third Wave (TW).

Following is an excerpt from Apologetics Index.  What they’ve laid out here should help prevent people from getting drawn into TW:

[D]istinctives of the Third Wave movement include — but are not limited to — the following:

  • The baptism with the Holy Spirit is identified with conversion. This is unlike other Pentecostal movements, in which the baptism with the Spirit is either a separate and/or a recurring experience.
  • the belief that the spiritual gifts are valid for today; that Christians can ask for, receive and learn how to use these spiritual gifts (and become better at using them with practice.
  • the belief that the primary use of the spiritual gifts is for ministry in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit – both to bless and heal those inside the church and to minister to those outside the church (“Power Evangelism.”). This ministry includes healing the sick, casting out demons, prophesying, etcetera.
  • active promotion of unity — sometimes at any cost (e.g. the Toronto Blessing Movement ‘s acceptance of certain Word-Faith teachers. “Unity over doctrine
  • the belief that people, Christians included, can be possessed (or ‘demonized’ — or ‘oppressed,’ something seen as a lesser form of possession) by evil spirits with or without their consent
  • the belief that objects or places can project evil influence and act as conduits for demonic oppression
  • the belief that traumatic events, either in our lives or in our ancestral past, can make us particularly vulnerable to demonic influence, possession or oppression
  • the belief that some Christians — using appropriate spiritual gifts — can identify and cast out demonic spirits
  • a general acceptance of Kingdom Now theology, which has led to the practice of so-called ‘Strategic Level Spiritual Warfare‘ or SLSW — an unbiblical concept in which Christians identify (through ‘spiritual mapping‘) and then target (with SLSW) ‘Territorial Spirits.’ (all links are AI’s)  (Source)

WoF and TW leaders are false teachers.  (You’ll find the names of these and other false teachers here.)   Over the years self-proclaimed apostles and prophets have managed to coax undiscerning individuals to involve themselves in some of the strangest physical manifestations imaginable.  Those who participate in church services where “signs and wonders” take place like to blame their crude behavior on the Holy Spirit.  Now, try to imagine giants of the faith such as John, Peter, James or even Paul “drunk in the spirit,” crawling on all fours barking like a dog, clucking like a chicken, jerking and twitching, rolling on the floor, laughing themselves into a convulsive state.  People involved in NAR have done these things in the past and continue this behavior to this day.  When I think about it, it really wouldn’t surprise me to witness Apostle Bill on all fours, nose in the air, howling like a wolf.  But I digress.

Two Super Apostles Restore A Fraud

During the alleged Lakeland Outpouring aka Lakeland Revival in Florida, a story hit the news that put NAR evangelist Todd Bentley in a bad light.  It was revealed that the rock-star evangelist was in an adulterous relationship with a female intern – and suddenly all hell broke loose.  In my column “We have had enough of false prophets” I scrutinized the NAR’s leaders and pointed out that Apostle Bill,

calls those who exposed Todd Bentley as a false prophet “sharks.” He also says:

“I’ll never blame the opponents [sharks] of this outpouring for Todd’s choices [sin].  However, it had a greater effect on the outcome than any of his critics will likely own up to in this lifetime. History proves this.”

(More on the Bentley brouhaha here, here and here.)

Apostle Bill and fellow apostate – oops! — apostle-prophet Rick Joyner decided to involve themselves in Bentley’s “restoration process.”  Just so you’ll know, Rick Joyner’s the founder and Executive Director of MorningStar Publications and Ministries and promotes the “new breed” of apostles and prophets.

Both Bill Johnson and Rick Joyner, who are seasoned apostle-prophets, claim to hold the title “Super-Apostle” and/or “Super-Prophet” which is comparable to holding the high office of cardinal in the Roman Catholic Church.  Chew on that for a moment, brethren.  As an aside I should mention that some “Super-Apostles” have been accused of using cultic mind control techniques on those they prey upon.

Listen to Apostle Rick pontificate about how he sees himself:

Even though I have not been able to go to journalism school, or even Bible school, in many ways I would not trade my education for anyone’s. Like Paul, I can say that what I received I did not receive from men.

Are we supposed to believe him?  And why would we?

Now, back to Bentley.  Bringing this man under submission took place following his divorce and after marrying the Proverbs 7 woman who, by the way, wasn’t the only woman he had an extra marital affair with.  Apostle Bill was well aware that the fraud-evangelist was involved in a prior dalliance.  Both “Super-Apostles” knew that he was drunk during his Lakeland stage act, yet they returned him to ministry anyway.  But, then, no one has ever accused NAR leaders of doing much of anything by The Book.

Todd Bentley is no more qualified for ministry than is disgraced televangelist/prosperity preacher Jim Bakker, who was incarcerated for fleecing the flock (fraud).  After his release from prison, what did Bakker do?  Still craving attention, he returned to public ministry.

So – how should churches handle a person in a leadership role when he/she brings shame on the Name of our Lord Jesus?  I addressed this topic in Does the Bible Really Say We’re Not to Judge?

The way in which to handle the sin of adultery biblically is for the church hierarchy to apply an appropriate level of discipline necessary to bring the person to true repentance.  Church leaders who have a “moral failing” must publicly repent of his/her sin against God.  They then must seek spiritual guidance and accountability and move out of the spotlight altogether.  Once the person is restored, he/she is encouraged to serve the Lord behind the scenes.  Sadly, this hasn’t been the case with Todd Bentley. Why? Because self-appointed Super Apostles Bill and Rick found it in their hearts—not in the Bible—to return the man to public ministry.

I’ll close this with a plea from a genuine apostle:

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. (Romans 16:17-18)

Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices. And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing. Acts 19:18-20

Luke mentions two movements here. It started with the believers who began to clean up their own lives, who came and divulged their hidden practices, confessing what they were doing in private. Obviously these were relatively new Christians and perhaps they had never thought that anything was wrong with these practices. Continue reading

Why Trump doesn’t admit Russian election interference

“So why did he do what he did? The answer has to do with the peculiar nature of the Russia investigation, and the peculiar nature of Donald Trump.”

(Byron York – Washington Examiner)  Was Russia’s effort to interfere in the 2016 election the most important issue on the table at President Trump’s Helsinki summit with President Vladimir Putin? No. But it’s not an unimportant issue either, and Trump knew the American press is obsessed with it. So he knew it would play a big role in the Trump-Putin post-summit news conference. Gallup Polls Show Americans Couldn’t Care Less (Literally) About ‘Situation With Russia’

(Joseph Curl – Daily Wire) Judging from the mainstream media’s breathless coverage of President Trump’s alleged blunders in Helsinki during his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, it’s clearly the biggest story in the history of the world (mankind’s harnessing of fire is a distant second).

Google “Trump” and “treason” and you’ll break your computer.

So what do Americans think? What percentage think the “situation with Russia” is “the most important problem facing the country today”?

No, that’s the answer, an asterisk. The percentage of people who think Russia is the most pressing issue is literally unmeasurable.

Matt Chandler Preaches Charismatic Poppycock

“Using what appears to be snippets of a few of the Church Fathers on miraculous gifting that were obtained probably from a brief Google search of charismatic websites, Chandler claims that the first 500 years of church history were replete with accounts of the miraculous. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.”

(Pulpit & Pen)  Something eventually happens to everyone who calls themselves a Charismatic Calvinist;” they eventually become all of one thing and none of the other. Like with Mark Driscoll, the charismatic side of the Charismatic Calvinist grows and grows more wildly out of control as claims of dubious supernatural manifestations grow so pervasive that it strangles out any vestiges of good theology that remain. One simply cannot deny the sufficiency of Scripture (which is the foundational anthesis of the Charismatic Movement) for very long without having it grow like a pervasive and invasive fungus upon the rest of their theology, stifling and snuffing out anything wholesome or true.
