The title of his article, “From Celibate Gay Poster Child to Future Gay Husband,” affords a key and primary clue as to why this happened.  It happened because he never renounced identifying himself with a sinful propensity or proclivity.  He failed to see his sinful bent was condemned by God, the Father; atoned for by God, the Son; and he was washed and sanctified by God, the Holy Spirit.

Faith Comes from God

Genuine Christians will be very interested in getting the answer to the question posed to Jesus from John 6:28. If a professing Christian is not interested in that answer then there’s a problem. On the other hand, there are many professing Christians who have answered that question without reading Jesus’ response to it. Instead, they have jumped head foremost into “religous” work that they believe pleases God and is earning them bonus points in eternity. Jesus Culture New Hit Calls the Lord an Uncontrollable, Voracious, Wolfish and Greedy God

This is criminal from a theological standpoint. God is NOT, I repeat NOT jealous for your attention. God is not longing for your affection. He can get by just fine without you. These are the kind of lyrics that would make Steven Furtick blush in their narcissism. God does NOT call you beloved. He calls the collective church His beloved. The sloppy agape experiential crowd often makes this conflation.
